I still need some one to actualy show me how to do a link to my albums ,But if any one is interested I have put some photos in an album of  my cheap idea for a Cassette to hold made up trains it's not meant for transporting on journeys just to store a train such as Brighton Belle on a shelf in your railway room.
Let me know what you think or if you can improve on the idea.

If you click on the image in your album you get a larger image, at the bottom corner of the image click on "Details"  scroll down until you see a line with [smg id = xxxxx] where xxxxx is the number of the image

Highlight everything on that line including the brackets, copy it (<CTRL>C ) and paste (<CTRL> V)into your post
Cheers MIKE

How about a length of 1mm high plastic x 7mm wide along the whole length of the cassette? The wheel back-to-backs should fit over it and maintain the longitudinal alignment of the train. A slight taper at one end could be used for guiding the train on, and at the other end a couple of strips to engage with the outside of a piece of N track should allow the train to be run off. My only caution would be with moving motive power along the cassette especially if it has traction tyres like the Brighton Belle.

My original cassette didn't work because of the finer scale wheels and the moulded pickups  I am working on an improved version today will see what happens I think I was a bit quick of the mark showing this one as I said it's worked fine for years on old Farish & Minitrix rolling stock.

Or, you could make a pair of tongs with long padded tangs which would grip either side of the train along its entire length.
That would only really work if you had a long enough straight section to lift it from, and an appropriate straight place to put it back down...  :hmmm:

This would be a good place to discuss cassettes in general because it's something I'm planning to use myself (if you don't mind, Bob).

I was thinking 3mm plywood for the base with something light but solid for the sides, and a strip of Peco Code 55 flexi inside. That's all I have so far... no details like how to power a loco to get inside it.

I am glad I started this discussion But sorry my first idea didn't work for the BB I have used the old version for some of my old Farish and Minitrix rolling stock for years stuff I disn't run on a regular bases . I'm sure between us all we will come up with a cheap and easy solution .I am going to investigate  plastic Chanel  and see if there is another size of trunking over the next few days ,I Personaly didn't find The BB that difficult to join together or take apart I think the Bachman Voyager was much harder to join with those little bars flopping about but it does look neater than the BB.

KEEP THE IDEAS COMING .

Had a quick measure up yesterday.  Most stock is c.20mm wide and c.30mm high. Back to back are c. 7mm.

I had a root around in our nearest DIY chain store here in Dublin and could not find the sort of brass or aluminium angle I was after (closest was for edging timber flooring.  Ideally I would be after angle of about 7 to 8 mm by 10 to 20 by 1.5 thick to make sides and "rails" for a cassette.

Also had a look at the small cable ducting (an idea I rather like) but that is more c section than u section (has a lip and channel for the top...

I might drive over to B&Q and see if they have anything...

I think the trick here is to try and find something that is easy, cheap and readily available...
