Just saw Robin Williams has committed suicide age 63. A brilliant but obviously very troubled man.
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

I saw this too a few minutes ago. Very sad news. Sometimes overly manic, but a versatile and very funny actor. RIP.

Yeah , just seen this as well . Very sad . I remember seeing a couple of his live stand up performances on TV when he was at the top of his game (80s ? 90s ? ) , they were so brilliantly funny , his brain just used to work SO quickly in those routines & in live interviews. A couple of years ago I decided  to look for a live performance DVD to watch- when I eventually found one , I was SO disappointed - fairly recent & nowhere near as funny . Fondly remembered by me for better days.......I was never particularly into Mork & Mindy , but loved him in Good Morning Vietnam & Dead Poets Society . RIP .

Sprintex

Opposite for me - Good Morning Vietnam left me cold, but Mork & Mindy was must-see viewing! A very talented and clever man.

Na-nu Na-nu - Mork signing off :(

Amen to that.

Can't believe I forgot about 2 of his great film performances (IMHO) - the VERY creepy main character in One Hour Photo , and the doctor in Awakenings . Great talent , gone too soon (another one) . Ric

The blackness takes another one  :(

Western Exile

Indeed; in Awakenings he delivered one of the best lines I've heard in any film. During a discussion with another doctor he said, "if you were right, I'd agree with you." Priceless.

Rather than focus on the obvious negative, I hope this thread continues to celebrate his abundant talent.
I thought one of his finest moments was in Mrs Doubtfire and although it was a box office flop, I loved Popeye as a kid  ;D

Agrippa

A bit of a mixed bag with his movies. Dead Poets Society a great film, Mrs Doubtfire a bit  OK.
Some others a bit take em or leave em, Popeye a pile of  ****.

Popeye was 1980s kid movie gold and you know it!

Agrippa

I beg to differ! It's one of the 10 worst movies I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of crummy films,
however each to his own and this is a friendly forum as people keep saying! :D

May have to upgrade it to one of the 50 worst films as there are so many
that I'm spoiled for choice.

PS the No 1 worst movie I saw was a pound shop horror dvd called something like the
Snow Queen or the Ice Queen where the soundtrack seemed to be from another film.

BTW , without speaking ill of the dead, I always thought Jim Carrey much better in
comedy films than  Robin Williams. Here endeth the lesson.

Jim Carrey is a one-trick pony though - Jim Carrey only ever plays Jim Carrey ;)

He's like the male version of Jennifer Aniston as far as ability to character act goes :D
