Yes, I saw that.
Excellent.

Some Beatles stuff from the 1990s. Yes, you read it right - the 90s. An album called 'Anthology' was released and a couple of singles came off it. They were, in fact, unreleased demos from the late 70s

EtchedPixels

New Deep Purple song out so was listening to that. Definitely Purple in style but didn't grab me although it's amazing that Ian Paice can still outdrum most people despite being nearly 80.

Yes, that popped up the other day for me. To be honest, these guys are getting old and still have the chops but Deep Purple in Rock was 56 years ago! I find these ladies more interesting...

See what you think @EtchedPixels

Not too sure about any of these latest offerings.

@EtchedPixels that Deep Purple track sounds just like it is.....a group of 70 somethings trying to recreate their past.

@Moonglum Is it really 56 years ago that Deep Purple in Rock was released?  I was 15 and loved it at the time but not now. That SKW version is interesting but not, as you may well imagine, for me.

@Newportnobby - I never did really get The Beatles and still don't to this day although I concede that they wrote some unforgettable and amazing songs.

Those two tracks have done nothing to change my opinion.

So.....all in all three grumpy old negative comments from me  :D

Martin @port perran , Ian Gillian (Deep Purple) is nearly 81, Roger Glover is 80 and Ian Paice is 77! I am getting to point of being fed up of them (and others) thinking that they still have the same appeal and ability.

There are many artists that are still performing that I once liked but are now way beyond their "best before date" and sadly (IMO) a bit of an embarrassment now*. Sad thing is there not much new blood about to offer the same aural stimulation and delight.

*An example (admittably from 7 years ago),

Sorry Annie...

A very good example indeed.

I tend to agree some bands stagger on and must be either desperate for the dosh or maybe are hard of hearing and can't hear how bad they sound. Still, there are folk who will pay good money to see them so they get away with it. I think they should walk away and just let the music recommend itself when in their prime. Not that I'm pointing fingers but..........
