I don't believe that T.Rex has been mentioned on here before but, of course, I may well be wrong.

Not really my cup of tea but I do rather like Get it On :

Despite not being taken entirely seriously and being seen more as a Glam Rock pop group Marc Bolan was I think well respected by contemporary musicians.
Indeed Rick Wakeman played Piano and Ian McDonald (ex King Crimson) played sax on Get it On.

I saw them once, at Bath Pavillions around 52 years ago.

Probably the only T. Rex song I liked after Tyrannosaurus Rex. He always was shocking at miming, though ;D

T Rex was not that bad (at the time) and had a string of hits. As Mick said the miming by Bolan is awful so I tried to find a live version and wished I hadn't bothered...

I did hear that Rick Davies (keyboards) of Supertramp had died (06/09). So, in his memory here is a track from IMO Supertramp's best album "Crime of the Century", parts of the track that I have chosen were recorded at Paddington Station...

RIP Rick.

I was into Supertramp at the time and agree that Crime of the Century was quite possibly their best offering.

Newportnobby

I always found Supertramp to be a little 'Marmitey' but do have 'Crime of the Century' and 'Breakfast in America'.
Currently listening to Thunder's debut album 'Backstreet Symphony'. A band I sadly never got to see but I rate them as as an excellent R & B band

Malc-c

Currently listening to an 80/90's rock playlist on Youtube, including some powerful rock ballads including  this one from Cinderella

I've just listened to/watched the National Youth Orchestra playing some Star Wars stuff and Gustav Holst's 'Planet Suite'.
Not interested in the Star Wars moosic but their rendition of the Plants was just awesome.
I'd recorded this from last week but I see it's on YouTube now

Currently watching/listening to Tubeway Days' live DVD.

I attended their gig in Gillingham last Saturday.   They're currently touring an absolutely spot-on recreation of Gary Numan's 1979/80 tours with perfect sounds and vocals etc.     I know the live tracks extremely well, having drummed along to the original Living Ornaments albums since they came out :)

Thoroughly recommend you go see TD if you're a fan of that period in Numan's career.

Thanks for reminding me about that Prom Mick @Newportnobby . I did catch the tale end of it on the TV the other night and see it's now on iPlayer - so might watch that later through my hi-fi. John Williams' film scores are a bit predictable so will fast foreword those bits.

Not sure about Tubeway Army or Gary Numan Nick @ntpntpntp . The only thing I have by him is this by Claire Hamill on which he played synths...

Yes Mick, an excellent Planets and encore!

There have been many versions of it (none bad) and each one gives me goosebumps. I still prefer the original from 'The Wall' closely followed by the one from 'Pulse'
Thanks for posting that

I like the fact that Bowie is there, although not for long!
