Is there an etched grill you can get for that body and save it?  Looks like only the roof that is damaged...

Why did it get that hot? Surely not healthy or normal???

Good question. The day before everything was ok until I put my 'best' bodyshell on following successful installation of the decoder to 66200.

When I pulled the shell off one of the components was melted to the roof, hence I've assumed that this caused the meltdown.

I've double checked the wiring and no issues there. Needless to say I'll be keeping an eye on 66200. Happy to say that no other hardware was damaged, loco is running round on DC until a new decoder arrives.
