Hi All
My friend showed me this site which is for OO gauge where you can download loads of card buildings and other items to print and build. To get them to our gauge is really easy you just have to reduce the print to 50% in your printer preferences and away you go n gauge. The site address is http://www.wordsworthmodelrailway.co.uk/
Hope this is useful enjoy.

I find it easier to resize in a photo or drawing app, besides N is not exactly 50% of 00. If using printer scaling I would suggest do a testprint and measure the sizes of doors and height to the eaves.

N gauge is 2.0625mm (not 2mm) to 1ft,  that ,0625 starts to get noticeably significant  on anything longer or higher than a scale 15 to 20 feet.

Do know of any free software for re-sizing - I've only got MS Paint which I don't believe you can scale as you want? Cos I've got loads of Scalescene stuff that I'd like to scale down.

You can resize in Paint.

Load your image in then click on "Resize"

You will get a menu pop up where you can resize by percentage or pixels  ;)

cheers John.

What a bummer after using Paint for many years - and I've just learnt something new!?! Cheers, Bob

I've been using Micrografx Picture Publisher since v2 back in 1991, I'm now using the last version v10, (Corel bought out Micrografx a few years back, used some tools and functions in their own product and did not issue any later versions.

I know it works fine on WinXP,not gat a Vista, 7 nor 8 so don't know if it works on those.

Free download here

Quite a few more listed on a Google search.

Am I correct in saying that N gauge is 51.625% of OO gauge then?

That would be close enough Bob.

I used 76.2 / 148 = 51.49 so the difference is very small  ;)

cheers John.

Allan,
Before I risk the ire of Mrs "H" and overload my poor windows 7 PC, do you think I can use this to upscale a PDF file?
I have found via another link on this forum (for ships) a model of the trinity house warehouses in 1:250 scale.

At one time I could print using my HP laserjet "poster" mode which meant I could reduce "OO" models by 54%, however it no longer seems an option  :confused2:
As you seem to be the knowledge bank for card can you help?

Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Dunno really, but I'd probably copy the images I wanted and use the "scale" feature in the pull down edit menu to enlarge it.

Put two guide lines on the image the right distance apart and stretch the image to fit,a bit trial and error but near enough,IIRC,holding the Alt and CTRL keys down lets you scale the vertical and horizontal simultaneously.

To adjust the size with the "scale' feature it's CTRL plus SHIFT not as stated in my previous post. :-[ and grab the corner of the box.
Sorry,I blame my galloping senility. :dunce:
