Sorry, I don't do the Gatwick line, a couple of links above me. The Turbos are doing quite well at the moment, so glad they're not making you feel ill.
As Winnersh station is operated by SWT I don't think they'd like us stopping there and taking all their school children business lol.

Out of interest which routes do you sign?

Paddington - Oxford, Slough - Windsor, Maidenhead - Marlow, Twyford - Henley and Reading - Basingstoke. Got to learn Reading - Bedwyn soon.
Great job for a train nut

Already doing that, spent 2 years onboard, followed by 3 years in various Signal Boxes then a short stint in the National Train Control Center in New Zealand, now driving suburban services in Auckland, signing Auckland to Pukekohe (both routes) and Auckland to Waitakere - quite a limited selection of routes but enough to keep me entertained!

Bet your weathers better than ours. Enjoy. It's going to be interesting to see what happens at the next franchising round, when they sort it out, and see what happens when Crossrail starts, coz Crossrail will take most of our paths to Paddington, so we'll see what develops.

We'll definitely get Sparky Arcy's, just don't know what type. Still rumours that we'll end up with refurbed Class 319s, but we're hoping for new trains instead. The 319s are past it...

Any chance of some pics anyone...? :photospleasesign:

All these TOPS codes.... haven't got a clue whats what, loco's i'm fine with - but with units i'm lost.  ???

Living in diesel country, an electric train is a tad rare... (not for much longer, FGW 'leccy's in the post !)
If it's got rails... you have my full, undivided attention - Steam, diesel and electric, 'tis all good !

Here's a Class 319

Here's a Class 165
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_165

The 166 is the same as a 165, but has air-con, fewer hopper windows and carpets throughout. Oh, and luggage space in the middle vehicle, which the schoolkids use as a seat.

Cheers, Timmo

319 is also the only standard UK EMU to have made it to Calais station.

I was too mate until I found THIS LINK. Scroll down a page to the "Recognition files" section and click on the numbers to see a picture of what they are on about.

Hi Timmo

For the purposes of a comparison, here is what I drive.

See anything familiar?  ;)

Correct, however they have had a little more than cosmetic surgery since they entered the country!

SWTs fleet

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_West_Trains

The 442s are now on the Gatwick express line but there is a picture of the SWT Wessex, which (IMHO) is one of the most gorgeous trains ever

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_442

Southern's fleet

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Trains

The Darth Vader Junipers are being transferred from Gatwick express and converted back into SWT style Junipers

Some time ago, prompted by an article in Modern Rail, I posted this about the merry-go-round of trains between SWT and Southern, which is nuts!

Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

I knew they had a complete rebuild from the frames up and they do look good. Got a stopper to Oxford to do now.
