have seen afew starter sets of this scale, does or has anyone had any experience in using it?
i see electra do some vinyls  which could come in handy.
am guessing its a scale thats not so big in the uk, but well know in japan etc.

It's not that big anywhere technically.   I've seem one set that a friend has, and it's great.  I think it's become quite popular in the UK in the last 12 months.

T gauge only came into being in about 2006.
It had a shakey start with a pretty poor reputation for failing rolling stock.
Last year the mark2 units were introduced and found to be stable and good runners. Without the mark 2s I think the whole idea would have died or relied on new manufacturers stepping in.
Now with the better rolling stock and many new/extra track/lineside products on the market the whole thing seem to be taking off.
Ive had a mark1 set sinse 2009 and a mark2 loco sinse early last year. I will admit tho that early 'plays' with my set left me cold and everyhing is still in its boxes unused

I like the idea, but it's a bit small for me. I like some detail that I can actually see!

Being a J-train nut, I got to hear of this very early on, and was one of the first in the UK to get hold of a T gauge set...about 3 or 4 years ago.

To start with the reliability was poor, however to their credit Eishindo quickly built upon their first generation motors and with the Hankyu and KiHa 40 sets things have got considerably better. Although it is mainly Japanese prototype, some other have started to appear; Electra graphics have helped a great deal, along with tgauge.co.uk. By all accounts, Eishindo are considering widening their scope; the ICE3 is allegedly now available...

There is a growing number of modellers taking T gauge seriously, with a number of scratch-building projects on the go...there are also a couple covered on RMWeb.
