Which, in turn leads me on to whinge about the lack of 4-4-0 locos from the mainstream manufacturers. Surely, if Bachmann/Farish can produce a decent outside frame Class 08 shunter, surely it's not beyond their technical capability to produce a GWR "Duke","Dukedog" or "Bulldog"... I'd better stop now!

Whilst I agree with you I think you may be outnumbered by those wishing for an up to date 2P and/or 4P when it comes to 4-4-0s

For my particular Scottish interests I would also welcome a Glen and a Caley 4-4-0 , ideally a Pickersgill. As my piece in the NGS Journal 3/22 indicated I have hacked my way to a bearable representation of both but....   I  have a Union Mills 2P but would not be averse to another!

As a "dyed in the wool" BR(WR) modeller, and, by association, therefore a GWR modeller, I have never found any real problem in sourcing GWR items, and as my layout (under construction - paused) is a joint BR(WR)/(SR) layout set in North Cornwall, I'd like to see a bit more SR(ex-L&SWR) freight stock, in either R-T-R or kit form, though the SE&CR seems to be becoming the "flavour of the month". However, I do think that, with its kit range, the N-Gauge Society is doing a pretty good job of trying to satisfy enthusiasts of whatever Era. By the way, I thought that Chivers Finelines had stopped producing N-Gauge kits in order to concentrate on 4mm scale subjects.

I do sympathise with GlenEglise with the dearth of kits for Scottish prototypes.  There is one very good reason to regret the passing of Union Mills - Colin Heard did have the wonderful knack of producing the types of locos at which the mainstream N-Gauge manufacturers would turn up their noses; in my case his ex-L&SWR Class 700 0-6-0 and the T9 "Greyhound" 4-4-0. I agree about the lack of 4-4-0s. Intermediate size locos I call them. I've seem to note that the majority of the time they, (Bachmann, Dapol, etc...), when they do make a steam engine seems to be a big mainline one. Come on guys, give us a few 2-4-0s, 4-4-0s, 2-6-0s & 0-6-0s you know, things you'd find on a single track line.
The stuff they are bringing out is very nice but it's not making me part ways with my money.

Not really , just anything I can use that is applicable to the GWR of that period.
There's quite a bit of 3D items but the quality isn't that great.
