We seem to be losing ex-Leeds players at a fast rate now.

Lorimer played his first game for Leeds before his 16th birthday and had one of the hardest/fastest shots in football in the 70's whilst playing for the greatest Leeds team in history. As I have mentioned in other threads (RIP Norman Hunter was one) I grew up supporting Leeds in the 1970's as my father was originally from Leeds. I remember in particular the 1975 European Cup final against Bayern Munich when Leeds dominated the match, had 2 penalty appeals turned down, Lorimer had a goal disallowed and Bayern scored 2 breakaway goals. I cried that night (I was nearly 11 and that hurt) and am saddened tonight too.

RIP Peter

Yes I know George @Bealman Leeds didn't win the cup in 1973  :'(

RIP Hot Shot Lorimer

Many of the great team of the Revie era have sadly passed, who brought much enjoyment to a young NBodger on the terraces at Elland Road.

I did not start watching football until I moved to London in 1966, but used to take the occasional trip to Elland Road (and Leeds Road) when I was home on holidays. I think I was a bad omen - saw the infamous Jeff Astle goal and subsequent riot
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zcl0wWR3QSc. I also saw Terry Cooper get his leg broken by Frank Lampard Snr. at West Ham. On the up side I was also at Chesea when Leeds won 5-2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTdhcjqGBw4 and I saw Lorimer at his best in the Scotland v Brazil in Frankfurt
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPs5MQ1EUoc. Those were the days - got tickets a couple of days before the match at a travel agent in Karlsruhe and drove up with a friend to Frankfurt. Less said about Paris, the better - I won't post a link - suffice to say to one I found had Bayern players saying it was a penalty against Clarke and Lorimer's goal was not off-side, but that's football!!

A sad loss, but with YouTube, plenty of opportunities to see the such a great team again.
