The instructions do cover it. You are supposed to iron them before use.

What's an iron, please? Is it a golf club thingy?

A bit like locos really. You can get electric ones and old fashioned coal ones, and they can be dry or steam. Surprised you didn't know.

It's what you use to solder electrickery wires to your train set  :hmmm:  :uneasy:

@Yet_Another Sorry, but I must be a bit thick today as I can't find instructions. They may be useful for whoever I can give them to. Can you point me to them, please?

No need to apologise, they've been a bit obscure about it.
In the editor's welcome piece, he advises that you refer to Calum Wilcox's article in the March 2025 issue.  ;)

I've got years and years' worth of these, folded up in the shed. I think there are probably other instructions in earlier years as well.

Probably helpful to be a subscriber.

The editorial refers us to the March 2025 number of the magazine.

I looked it up and it's on page 225. A well-illustrated feature.

All good wishes

The Table-Top Railway is an attempt to create, in British 'N' gauge,  a 'semi-scenic' railway in the old-fashioned style, reminiscent of the layouts of the 1930s to the 1950s.

As stated by others, the March 2025 RM contains a two-page article by Callum Willcox on how to use the backscenes.

The article actually starts on page 224 and the detailed instructions are on pages 224 and 225.

I am not sure how you are searching for the article but if you open the March 2025 RM in the archive, you should be able to manually scroll through to pages 224 and 225.

A search for " Free photographic backscene " has just found it in the app.

Found it, thanks. A bit clunky scrolling on a laptop.
It only says using a medium heat iron will reduce the creases, not eliminate them.
Has anyone used them and, if so, could they provide a pic/their own experience please?

Used to buy a couple of monthly magazines when I was active as a 'biker. Reading an article with a photo i thought something seemed familiar so I looked at the same month but a year earlier - same article exactly but photo reversed!
Not bought a monthly magazine since!

For N gauge there's the N Gauge news, N Gauge Society, UK Model Shops plus newsletters from manufacturers and the - - - - "the N gauge forum", who needs a magazine?
A jack of all trades is a master of none, but often times better than a master of one.

I'm with you most of the way but do like looking at larger scale layouts as, you never know, there might lurk the germ of an idea

Yeah, I do miss me good old RM. I prefer a real paper magazine, though I think they'll soon be history. Even all the newsagents are disappearing around here.
