We have two cats, Susie is somewhat larger than her sister and does enjoy sitting on my lap at the desk when I am trying to do delicate tasks.

At least your cat doesn't try and pounce the trains.

Going by her whiskers movement she was making silent mouthings at it so I don't think attack mode was far away

Well, the first week has passed and we have spent rather more time looking after pup than we anticipated. The theory is that we looked after her while he did some work... I'm sure that's not what we signed up to, but we shall see.

Anyway, our dogs met the pup and studiously ignored her, but they are thawing slowly. They dined together without argument as you can see:

Sadly, The Princess of Dots left us on Monday, 2 months shy of her 15th birthday, after a long fight with arthritis and kidney disease.

Not a happy time, but the only decision we could make. We cannot do this again, we can't face the pain.

So sorry to hear that, Rob, she looked a lovely girl. I know what you say, it's heart-breaking to lose a much-loved family member - we've done it 6 times since we've lived here (3 cats and 3 dogs) but we still come back for more. They just give us so much.

12 and a half years of love and devotion, since we took her on from her broken home. She was gentle, she was kind. Love to you and yours, Chris.

Rehomes often make the best pets (we've had 3). They are so grateful for a loving home, peace and stability. Our last cat, Jasmine, was the exception - she was semi-feral to her dying day!

Our condolences.

It was time to say goodbye to Poppy, our rescue cat, a couple of months ago. She was 15 and we had her for nine years. She enhanced our lives. Although we had to do as we were told.

She lives on on our FabulousForum. She was a keen model railway enthusiast and the Poppingham layout is named after her. Like Poppy, the layout has a sense of fun.

We hope you have many treasured memories of that lovely pet.
