And the J72 was not unknown "North of  Hadrian's Wall" either.  Kittybrewster shed had a few in the 1950s.  Also Eastfield.  I might be tempted.

I think I've posted about J72 allocations on that thread-indeed there were some at Kittybrewster, Eastfield, Keith, St Margaret's and Thornton for various periods.

Well, I would never have guessed Bachmann's new tooling announcement would have been about these NER and LNER hopper wagons in a million years!

Having built several of these wagons over the past two years (2mm Scale Association resin kit and West Highland Models 3D print) I really don't need any more but I think I will be in the market for two or three when they are released.
 
As previously stated, I believe that these hopper wagons were primarily found in the North-East of England in NER, LNER, BR, and NCB service.
 
They are noticeably "vintage" in design and I love the long end stations (end pillars) and distinctive hand brake levers.

This is out of the blue and very welcome! and it is going to cost me a few bob isn't it?

And I am very happy to see quite a variety planned - albeit they all appear to be be from one underlying moulding - which, if one has spent the time I have with nose buried inside North Eastern Record as well as the relevant Taplow volumes and other sourced, does not cover all the variety ( such a huge number of P7s produced that was bound to happen).

Anyway it is most pleasing! One can never get enough NER rolling stock, with or without an L in front  ,

Personally I'm delighted they've chosen a long-lived wooden hopper wagon. I'll buy at least five to mix with my rakes of N Gauge Society 21T steel hoppers (they ran in mixed rakes in the NE up to the late 1950s).

The logical model loco to go with these is a J27 or J21, examples of both are preserved, but perhaps I'm hoping for too much there. They certainly never ran behind a J72 in the Northumberland coalfield.

A J27 would be nice for these. Maybe something Sonic could get their heads around?

Agreed. There seems to be a distinct lack of smaller locomotives for all regions out there.
