Well, this is appropriate for several threads such as the unhappy thread/what are you listening to now, but thought it needs something special. I have just heard that Ozzy Osborne has died.

One of the most influential characters in hard rock and heavy metal history has left the stage for the final time, I am soo gutted but knowing how much he has been suffering, at least he is now at peace.

For anyone who got to see the farewell concert a couple of weeks ago, it sounds like it raised more money for charity than any other concert in history.

My thoughts, obviously go out to his family, personal ones and the wider metal fanbase.

Best wishes to you all

Simon

ROCK ON MATE!!!

Trainfish

One of rock's greatest ever performers. A crazy (and funny) guy who I saw perform a couple of times and so pleased that he eventually managed to play his farewell gig a couple of weeks ago. Something he always wanted to do.
RIP you crazy man, you will be sadly missed by anyone who likes rock music and many many more.

That's awful news, after seeing his recent farewell appearance at Birmingham I really didn't think that would be the last time he would be seen in public and his end was so close. Yes, crazy but endearing...

RIP Ozzy.

Just heard the news. A very sad evening lies ahead. My thoughts go out to Sharon, his family and friends :(  :(

(I bet the funeral will be electric ;) )

Very sad news indeed.

Ozzy was most definitely a leading icon of rock music and will be fondly missed by many.

Not my cup of tea musically but nevertheless a great loss to music lovers worlwide.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Never a big fan, but I know a lot of folks were.
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

You have summed up my thoughts precisely, I never warmed to him or Black Sabbath musically, but I do respect that he was a massive rock icon, and his passing will be mourned by many across the Globe.

I never really was into Black Sabbath, or indeed his solo work. I did see him perform as Ozzy supporting someone, possibly AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest. My only memory was of him grubbing around on the stage like some kind of knuckle dragging neanderthal. They did some tunes I quite liked, but were always a bit too dark for me.

However, I respect the influence, the energy & the commitment & its always a shame to see a heavyweight of any sort depart this mortal coil.

What has followed him, & others of his era, do nothing for me so I always get a bit melancholy as to the loss of decent talent.

The 'man upstairs' is gonna be in for a shock.
