For about two weeks now, random photos posted on the Forum have appeared on my computer screen as "rainbow" pictures like the one below.

Not all photos are like this.  Just the occasional photo.  If someone posts, say, three photos in one post, usually only one photo is affected.

I am using a Windows PC and running Chrome.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm using an old laptop and Chrome, but no, all ok here.

How's it on your phone? I use my phone most of the time, but no issues there either.

No problems here, but is that image is representative then it looks slightly corrupted.
If you refresh the page (try Ctrl-F5) does it stay corrupted?
If you click on the image and view it in the gallery does the pixelation remain?

Ian, I'm assuming that this image is a screen-grab of what you see. Could you post a link to the original gallery image? Thus we could compare with what we see.
 :beers:

Reminds me of the early days of dial-up internet, when you'd get a low-res pixilated version of the image first as the proper image loaded. If the connection got interrupted that was all you got...  ;D
Is it an image hosted on the forum server or an external host?

Apologies for the delay in replying, but I have been trying to do some modelling (honest!).

I use my PC a lot more than my phone when viewing the Forum but I do not recall seeing any problems with photos when using my phone.

When I click on a rainbow image, it opens in another page and looks normal.  Likewise, when I go into the gallery directly, images look normal

Yes, the photo I posted was a screenshot.  I looked at three photos in the gallery that I made of record of having the rainbow problem in a post and all three were normal in the gallery.  Likewise, when I went back into the original posts where there was problem, all the photos were normal.

All the photos that I have had a problem with are photos by Forum members on the Forum server.  I have not had any problems with photos opened through external links.

Summary
(1) This may have been a temporary problem as I have not seen these rainbow photos for a couple of days now.
(2) All the photos that I went back and tried to find with the problem appear normal now (even in the original post).  I probably had the rainbow problem in about ten photos in various posts.
(3) Whatever it was, it seems like it is my problem as no-one else has reported the same issue.
(4) If it happens again, I will try and identify any common issues with previous photos with this problem.

Thanks for all your ideas.

Well, I spoke too soon.  More rainbow examples appeared today.  These occurred when I opened the post for the first time.  When I went back into the posts later in the day, the photos were all normal.

Screen shots below.  (Note: When I look at the photos that are rainbow style in posts, the text is normal.  However, in the screen shots below, some of the text appears pixelated - this must have been caused by my process of posting these screenshots).

Most strange. I'm no expert (far from it), but it looks to me that the problem seems to be at your end, either software or even hardware.

In other words, I haven't a clue, but it must be annoying for you.

Yes, I am sure the problem is at my end, I just don't know what is causing it!

A quick google search shows others have had similar issues over the years.  The usual recommendations of clearing browser cache, maybe turning off hardware graphics acceleration in Chrome, maybe some sort of flag setting "use-angle" related to which graphic engine chrome uses
