No that's it.

I suppose a "lighter" quarter was due, even if it does include a brand new tool steam loco.

Plenty of liveries / variation in the Hawksworths as well.

Hopefully this will be of use to those who model such things.

Agreed, we've done pretty well this year. Nice to see the maroon Hawkesworths back and those BR Green V2s look lovely.

£187 for a V2. Ouch. Plus the cost of a zimo dcc chip, it's not massively far off to go for sound!

Mind you, I haven't purchased a Loco in 2-3 years as I lost interest, so I've not seen the inflation first hand. Maybe this is a fair price? That way I can justify ordering one 

I'll be ordering the RTC's for my set without a doubt.

i guess it is maybe just me , so you bring out a bring new LNER loco , but do a run of GWR coaches. the randomness of these announcements from Bachmann always make me wonder.
we must be due another run of the C CLASS sometime soon as its been 5 years since the last , and on a positive i like that you get more second class coaches on a run, but now its 2 of everything , brakes, buffets , firsts. ok you cant please everyone but trains are not normally 2 of every type.

I'll pre order a V2 green late crest and, if I don't get any Rails vouchers for my birthday, I'll then cancel it. At what point do we stipulate whether we want traction tyres fitted? If we have to do it ourselves then that's just another non-no for me.
Likewise, I'll not pay over 40 quid for a coach. I already own ½ a dozen Hawksworths from the first run.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see what doesn't get sold and see if there are further discounts.

Speaking for myself, based on the RRP of the sound-upgraded Standard 5MT (£289.95 from memory), I was fully expecting the RRP for the sound fitted V2s to be somewhere comfortably over £300 and so paying £280 each for the pair I have just pre-ordered was within about £20 of what I had budgeted. I wouldn't be prepared to pay that much for any old loco, but the V2 is a loco central to my new layout and a real favourite so I am content to. 

I don't think there is any point in complaining about the prices we are now seeing, they just reflect the increased cost of making such models these days, people need to make a profit to survive but nobody in the supply chain is getting super rich. They are after all made in small quantities with much manual labour involved so unit cost will inevitably be high given the small production batches. It is just the same in OO - the humble new tool 08 in "Deluxe" guise that is sound fitted with the DCC uncoupling system has a RRP of £364.95!!

As to traction tyres, the V2 will come with the tyred wheelset fitted, the option is to swap that out for a plain wheelset that comes in the accessory pack should anybody wish to. I am told that the new V2 with tyres fitted will pull 30 coaches on the level and 20 up an incline which is light years away from the feeble performance of the 2004 model.

There have been recent runs of both Thompson and Mk1 coaches by Farish and they are readily available so, along with Gresleys from Dapol and freight stock from a variety of manufacturers there is already plenty available for a V2 to pull.

Therein lies the rub. I purchased the old V2 on the spurious (feeble) premise a V2 could have come along the Varsity Line from Cambridge to Oxford, but a V2 is not a 'must have' unlike the upcoming Dapol BoB and GWR Mogul.
Thanks for the info on the tyred wheelset. I'm still trying to get my mind round why anyone would not want traction tyres

I would suggest that a much more likely premise for a V2 finding it's way to Oxford would be from the Great Central via Woodford Halse/Culworth Junction across on the GW/GC Joint line to Banbury and onward. That was the route the York/Bournemouth expresses took right up to the closure of the GC. Woodford Halse had an allocation of them (I believe up to the very early 60s) and even after that York's V2s continued to work down the GC to the yards there, so a through freight with the loco continuing and coming off at Oxford may also be sufficiently credible under "Rule 1". It is said that Woodford Halse shed staff would often "borrow" a York V2 off an incoming freight and use it for a while before returning it, with their 6ft 2 inch driving wheels and sharp acceleration they were a perfect loco for the GC and much respected by it's crews.

Well I have been very pleased with the releases over the last year and have kept me poor and poorer with every quarterly announcement.

This time, however, only the tank wagon set is likely to be heading my way. Maybe at TINGS if one of the stands has them on a show special.

A bit of a relief really, as I need to find money for points and point motors, etc.

Still, I can also be happy for those who are delighted to see the new stuff that I don't want and who are, I'm sure, thinking "at last !".

Of course, I do need those Royal Train Packs just announced and they are also Graham Farish.

Roy, can I ask where you get that info from as, and I quote from BachFar's website......

.....it does not read to me as if the loco comes as standard with traction tyres fitted
