It is sometimes very useful.

That box is now above the post you intend to edit, Alan

Thank you.

P.S. I've now used it successfully

I don't want to labour this but can we have some reassurance at some point (preferably while I'm still on this earth) we will regain our bookmarks. I found this capability hugely helpful in having a list of threads I am interested in, threads helping with best ways to do things etc etc
Simply saying 'Use the Search facility' just doesn't cut it

In the Profile Options you can select Notifications and within this there is a Watched Topics section. Et Voila the bookmarks from the old version!

Overnight I've lost 13 unread posts, they've just vanished again.

Am I the only one experiencing this issue?

Unread Posts

I can't really add much but I have, I think, a similar issue.
This morning I opened up the forum for the first time from fresh with 10 messages ready to read but if I then click on the Unread Posts tab I have only one unread one.
Cheers

I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

I'm sure that's the same as I had, which PLD posted the answer to.

"Unread posts" is now actually unread posts since last visit. So this morning Martin there was only 1 post overnight, but everything else has dropped off that list. You have to click unread posts and select "all unread posts" to get the full list, which will be multiple pages.

It's certainly frustrating, as there are multiple clicks to get to the (vastly more useful IMO) all unread posts view.

Actually, I've just discovered that if I click on the unread posts tab and there are none, I get a green banner  across the screen saying No Unread Topics since your last visit. Click here to open all unread topics.
Clicking there reveals more unread posts.

Yes, because you're refreshing your page, so nothing has changed since your 'last visit'. You need the full list.

I've got into the habit of right clicking any post from the "unread" list and open in a new tab.  This way you can read the post, then close the tab and get back to the list without the list disappearing.  I do this on all forums as a lot of forum software seems to take the displaying of the first unread post when selected as marking all posts read because it displays that selection in the same tab, thus replacing the list of unread topics.  The only way to get back to the unread list was to click the "unread post" link again, which treated this as another visit and would either show just the one or two threads that had just been posted, or display a blank screen stated no new posts. It seems that displaying that first topic when selected navigates away from the list so the forum treats that as all messages read.

Unread Post.

This should really be called 'Recent Unread Posts'.  But, if you click it, when the page changes, on the right it will say "All Unread Topics".  That will show every thing that hasn't been read.

I'll look into the viability of making this more obvious, as we're not used to doing this.  :)

I agree on desktop I do that, but personally I do most of my forum browsing on mobile, where it's much clunkier.

I've never used a mobile phone for browsing - I tend to be old school and use the phone for talking to others... a function that seems to be forgotten about  :D

I must admit when I'm on the forum I'm on the phone most of the time. As a mod in Australia, with the time difference between here and the UK, it enables me to be up to date with happenings a lot better.

For example, it's currently nearly 9pm, I'm away from home for a few days, in a motel room, have one eye on Australia playing Nigeria in the Women's World Cup, but am still able to post this!  :beers:

I don't appear to be  getting email alerts when replies are made to a topic I started.

But I do get email alerts when one of my posts is quoted.

I've looked at the notification settings and put a tick in "Follow topics I create and reply to" (top left) and also changed "How frequently to tell me:" setting just below it, to 'immediately' ,but hasn't made any difference.

There doesn't appear to be any setting to receive an alert or an email when a topic I've started has been replied to, or am I missing something?
