Quiet on here, but making progress

Frames painted and secured to the bodies, all but one set of buffers installed to the end wagons and some nifty paint pens used to add the lamp brackets.

Having obtained some Foster Yeoman blue at Warley (in answer to my query on applying the full Yeoman logo over ribs), I am nearing the start of decal application.

Had a marvellous burst of energy this evening and got a "side" completed.

I may review some more photos to see if I can find a home for some of the remaining decals on the sheet, but this is definitely a "model" to follow.

Back to the bench this evening after the festivities

Workbench had some new stock on it briefly as shown in the first photo.

Rapidly decided putting decals on was less stressful than coupling the JHAs so I went back to that!

I have not enjoyed the best of starts to 2023, but the wonderful soothing properties of modelling have been invaluable.

Sat in my train room with a project like this on the go for a couple of hours genuinely lifts my mood.

Spotted a minor error which I could correct before it was too late: Namely the data panels for the end wagons need to be different to those for the middle ones. Fortunately the supplies decals are enough to cover the 4 outers I have.

Small victories.

Not checked in for a while mate, mainly because I'm seeing all your wonderful work on Facebook, but my gosh those PTAs are coming on a treat!! :claphappy:

Those of you who make use of Facebook may have seen updates there, but I thought an update was needed on the (very) old workbench thread.

So due to a combination of the weather, not being able to varnish inside and a shortage of parts, the rakes of JTA/JUAs have been set aside for a bit.

However more activity can be found in the train room in the form of a project I have wanted to attempt for years, the 442.

I obtained a complete TPM kit last year and last month the coaches and a suitable chassis arrived.

It's already been a learning experience, and despite feeling slightly destructive with the removal of plastic and paint, but so far so good I think...

Saw this on fb Adam and must say I'm always massively impressed with your workbench layout!

Mine is just boxes full of bits and pieces, yours is always meticulously laid out and I really like your presentation cases!!!

Will follow not because I'm a fan of the 442, I think they are one of the ugliest things ever to run on our rails but just in envy of your workbench  :D

:smiley-laughing:

I can assure you a lot of it is to do with my OCD and also some stage management. The rest of the room doesn't match the neatness and is long over due for a clean out. I went so long without any railway room that I started projects as soon as they were feasible rather than upon room completion.

As for the 442....I have seen worse (cough, class 70, cough), but I agree it's not going to win "Miss NSE"  ;)

Progress tonight

All coaches now have their required cutouts for the installation of mounts for Yaw Dampers.

Two coaches have now been stripped as well.

After I finish stripping the other coaches I will turn my attention to the roof details that can be modified. I say "can", as I am fairly sure I won't be replacing all of the moulded detail with supplied cast ones. I am not confident I can achieve a good enough result without damaging the roof.

That being said, new features on the buffet coach will most likely be added.

Keep up the great work.  I love seeing the conversion.  :)

Thank you great leader 😊

Finished stripping all the paint tonight (motor / buffet not shown).

Going to look at getting a decent mitre block this week and then maybe finally put the big trousers on to remove ends for cab installation.
