I completely agree Dave! And, for me, the real security flaws that do develop are not my biggest concern. I have the necessary precautions in place and I know my way around a PC well enough to deal with most things if/when they crop up, although I've had very few problems in this regard, therefore security is not my number 1 criteria for a browser (although clearly it's still very important.) Probably, for me, the one thing that keeps me with IE is that I can sync all my settings, my favourites and toolbars with laptop, PCs, server and iPhone, easily and all under one simple interface. Makes my life a lot easier knowing it's all backed up and synchronised between all the devices that I own.

Actually IE8 does work. Just click on 'See More Alerts' and you are taken to a list of the threads where replies to your comments have been posted.

Thanks that works for me

Hi

It used to work just fine in IE8 so that would suggest a change to the website that has broken it.

I use IE8 at work, and it doesn't work how it should.   The developers of Internet Explorer have fallen behind with the modern advances and complexity of internet languages and software.  We haven't changed how the Alerts work on the forum, so it can only be the way it's interpreted by a browser.

Hi

It used to work perfectly. I also use IE8 at work and this now no longer works as it did.

Have you done any forum updates (it may not be something you have done directly to alerts).

Illori

there have been no changes that effect the alerts mod and it has not worked in IE at all since it was installed.

Newportnobby

Ummm - I use IE and the alerts work fine for me.
I also am DC and not DCC - are you building up a profile yet :-[

Illori

it can NOT work in IE due to IE not supporting the styles that the mod uses.

PaulCheffus

Hi

I'll take your word for it, however, I have learnt in my years in computer programming that sometimes the unexpected can actually work although it's not meant to.

then it does not work, as it should show the alerts right on the page you are on without going to another page.

Chaps, it seems you have found a function for the triangle that makes you happy... but the above quote is why Illori is saying it doesn't work... it doesn't do what it should in IE, apparently.  Hope this clarifies?!

The alerts I get in IE are for PM's and Thank You's
Nothing else is needed

Tank

The issues with Internet Explorer are now sorted out and the Alert modification should work perfectly now.  Thanks to Illori for updating the software.
