Indeed, especially when they just couldn't let these huge branches fall across the road, which was reasonably busy!

surprised Health and Safety didnt close the road

Bealman

No, that would probably involve council, and they don't give a sht, yet alone know what they're doing  ;)

It may be just my mind but I also think that a walk across a bridge would sound better than over it. Especially when you say "over the seacliff".

Couldn't happen. She had bodyguards with her in the form of Bealettes 1 and 3, Bealette 3 having become very proficient at martial arts after her 18 months in Japan  ;)

Obviously got their good looks from their mother and not their father  :D

Seeing those hats made me think of that old song "From LA to New York...". I can only remember the chorus now.

Just my 2cents worth, but that part of the NSW coast is one of the nicest places you could find yourself.

It certainly looks like a lovely stretch of coastline. So why have they ruined the view by building that concrete monstrosity along it??

Cheers,

Chris

Simples. The sandstone cliffs in this area are very susceptible to crumbling and rock falls are very common. The old road (which can just be made out in the photos) hugged the cliffs, was extremely tortuous to drive, and would often be blocked, and I believe there were fatalities.

Anyway, I don't reckon that the bridge looks bad at all - quite a graceful piece of engineering, I feel.

We have one of those in Japan along a stretch known as Okuzure Kaigan, literally "the great crumbling coast":

Interesting video, although I am not sure I would fancy driving through one of those tunnels, knowing what has happened in the past.  :hmmm:

I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

You would however be driving over the former course of the main line between Tokyo and Osaka, which for obvious reasons no longer hugs that bit of coast, and you can stop and go and look at bits of remaining tunnel:

Scary and spooky. Can't imagine Bealman scrabbling around there with his ankle full of meccano!

What's in boxes in the tunnel? Somebody growing magic mushrooms?  :D

Those giant onion rings could come in handy if anyone gets into trouble in the water

Bealman

Yeah, but the breath could be a problem if resuscitation was required  ;)

ALERT!

If you are of a nervous disposition or suffer nightmares, you must leave this page now.

After 42 degree heat on Australia Day, the next day was only 21 degrees and pouring down. A soaking wet, stunned Bealman at the bus stop.....

Graham

a bit of shock, we had the same a couple of days earlier. Cooling on one day, heating the next.
