Hi Oldrailbug,

You normally around now as prob early evening with you so thouht I'd sneak in my scenery ignorance uestion re dullcote.

Never heard of it as newbie(ish) to hobby but very newbie to scenery and am making a start.

Have googled the stuff. I get the jist (I think) but it really just tells you where to buy it. When you say everywhere, do you mean everywhere or little spurts here and there all over layout.

also do you put it on everything, trees, buildings etc.

Sorry for ignorance  :-[

Its 8.45 am. Wish it was 4.45 pm and having a cold one in the evening sun  :) Might have got time difference wrong?

Cheers Weave.

Hi weave, Dulcote is an American made flat clear substance like paint, it comes in bottles or spray cans, I use spray cans myself but make sure I am wearing a face mask as some states in America insist on a health warning in the bottle with possible links to cancer.

I have found it best for coating locomotives and other rolling stock after weathering but have also used Tamiya flat clear for both scenery and trains.

I always Dulcote my scenery before putting structures on it, the reason being I use acrylic paints to colour my scenery which sometimes leaves an unrealistic shiny surface.

Hope that puts you on the right tram.
Keep on Smiling
Dave.

..... building the Metcalfe Corner Pub. I don't really have much intention to use it on the layout when I get started but mainly as an exercise in building up my personal confidence in Card Structure Modelling of which I have so far done Sod All! By all accounts it appears to be coming out well!!!

don't  forget   :camera:     I'm taking ages   to build  Scalescenes   Medium Station, hope it's worth the effort but it's very satisfying.

Doing the first parts of the assembly of my 3D printer kit.

Still lots to do and will be some delays as it wasn't well packed so the glass plate was cracked when I got it, plus its missing a couple of bits and one or two have flaws. Seems I got the "Friday afternoon" kit 8)

As demanded, finished this today. I know it is not quite square, but I am happy with how this has come out given I have never before attempted a building this large, and I will eventually be building structures much bigger than this. The whole point of this exercise was to build my confidence - and this building will probably never go on the railway when I start building it. For a first effort I think it has come out well if I do say so myself!

Cheers!

A great job I'd say no layout should be without a good pub !
Some days its just not worth gnawing through the straps.

Well made and great little kit, I wish there was a selection of US card kits like there is UK style.

Hi  kaiwhara,

Excellent build    i'd forgotten there is a passageway  through  to the back yard of the pub add  some  beer barrels &   crates  & it would make a nice scene  for the layout   ;)

Have to get on  soon  &   build  my kit of the  corner pub from  Metcalfe.
