Magnetic couplings

A friend of mine in France has home-brewed some magnetic couplers by chopping off the hook and fixing two magnets on the flat face. This is his test train of 60 bogie wagons. The opening shot shows the concept of the coupler. I think that there could be a neater variation with the magnets sunk into the flat face and with a 10 thou/0.25 mm cover plate glued over it. Would need testing.

I think the train in that video needs to be a bit longer to fully test the strength of the magnets  :doh:

His 60 wagon consist was as much as the two Minitrix locos could pull up his 1 in 50 helix. :-)
