Would it be possible and would it be a good idea to have a "spare parts" exchange thread.  This would be separate from the Wanted section which is generally for complete items.

Availability of parts can vary and whether for repair or scratch building it might be good to have somewhere to flag up parts that members need.  It would need to be a simple list and not a place for conversation or discussion.

For instance I am currently repairing a Dapol B1 and need a front bogie axle or bogie.

Thoughts please.

I think this is a brilliant idea and would give it my full support. There are bitsnpieces I use/need that go 'unavailable' from time to time. I have a reasonable amount of spares (and I know others who have the same) and would be more than willing to help out someone stuck for a part.

I think this is an excellent idea, I have lots of odds and ends that could be useful including loco bodies.

Sounds like a good idea to me too.

I am wanting two of the four wheeled Farish front bogies with the bigger wheels, that were in the spares packet with some loco's.

It sounds like a great idea.  I'm sure that we all have parts squirreled away that would help others! 

Let me think about how to best implement this on the forum.  Ideas welcome!

Thanks, the idea of a flat P+P is a good idea.  Something just above £3.00 2nd class Small Packet rate possibly.

maybe once this super idea if implemented and up and running
then say david who needs a a front bogie axle or bogie the idea is whoever is willing to swap, send the part PM's david for example and arranges contact details etc. could be an interesting idea/useful

Brilliant idea ,Swapping loco bodies  for instance if someone changes region or era .

happy to swap parts i dont need for parts i do need!

i do buy spares from farish but sometimes they dont have them or will only sell the part i want in with a bigger component
