Hate to say this but I am getting bored with our wonderful hobby, not bored with trains though with intentions of videoing steam and diesel trains next year.

It has been something that has been creeping up on me for quite some time, I have no doubt that if all is well in the health department I will most likely return to the hobby one day.

I am taking up a hobby that I have been on and off involved in since the mid 1960s and that is Shortwave Radio DXing which involves listening for weak international radio stations in places like Brazil and many other South American and African countries, I love turning a radio on and listening to exotic places around the world, come to think of it I don't need to turn a radio on to do that I just need to take a train into our city of Brisbane.

Not leaving the forum though as I enjoy reading the banter on many sections and hope to continue contributing wherever I can,
Keep on Smiling
Dave.

Hi ORB - sad news about the modelling side of railways but I'm pleased you'll still drop by and pass on your experience/humour and great musical taste to us all. Maybe you'll be able to pick up Chorley radio (coming in your ears, as the advert says) :smiley-laughing:

Good luck with your new hobby Dave.....
(A change is as good as a rest so they say)
Glad you are still going to be popping in here though.....

Bored with the hobby? Check your tea. The missus might have slipped a Mickey into it.  :o

Good luck 73's and happy DXing, occasionally I fire up the FT817 and listen to the HF bands when I'm having a quiet time away from  trains and cars.

Oddly enough I went the other way - from amateur radio back to model making.

Well that was a total waste of time, I spent the day checking world radio stations and frequency/time allocations only to find that due to the world financial downturn many world radio stations have closed down or running a skeleton service, there has also been an increase in Religious stations which I have no interest in at all, things are never the same when you go back to them.

So its back to N Scale model trains, wont bother doing much to the layout until late Feb by then I amy be rearing to go again

Sorry ORB, but once you're gone you're gone.
