Not quite the same, but I did pick a CB up for the car back in the summer, as on the car club runs we always used to use PMR radios but they lack the range and clarity that a decent CB setup gives.

The whole radio scene does seem to be coming more popular again this century, everything is cyclic as they say :)

I don't think 27meg CB will ever die, still lots of nice SSS sets getting aroud that cover the 26 to 28 meg bands, no doubt the reason it has become popular again is because there is a decent 11 year skip season in progress.

Brings back the days during the 80s and 90 when I used to chase DX, spoke to people in 37 US States, Indonesia, New Zealand, Japan, Iriyan Jaya, Canada, Hawaii and the best of all was copy with some American GIs located on an Island in the Bearing Strait between Alaska and Siberia.

CB gave me more enjoyment than any other hobby and I used to love learning about how other people lived and the great geographical aspect of it.

Hop you enjoy the new CB so have fun
