One of my brothers had cancer.

Just over a week ago, I felt a need to get in contact and arrange to go and see him. So last Wednesday, I popped over to Northampton and had a visit.

It was difficult, as he looked gaunt and very jaundiced. Although he kept on drifting asleep, it seemed to mean a lot to him that I was there, with my other brother (his twin).

I got a call a short while ago, to say that my brother passed away this afternoon.

I'm very sorry to hear that and offer my deepest condolences to you and your family in this difficult time. May he rest in peace

Very sorry to hear that. However you can take solace in the fact that you saw him before he died, and it meant a lot to him.

My condolences to you and your family.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Take care of each other, that's so important.

As I am sure you feel as well, this forum is like an extended family sometimes.

The kids sometime kick up a fuss, but when the chips are down, we are all there for each other.

Hi Bob,

I'm very sorry to read that - what awful news.

Is it any consolation that you managed to see him so recently?  One often reads of those who don't get there in time and forever rue that missed chance.

Either way, deep condolences to you and your family.

I think it did him good having me visit. He was sufficiently aware of me being there and kept on apologising for drifting asleep.

I am glad I went, as the family bond is strong, despite us all having gone separate ways and only keeping occasional contact.

So sorry to hear that Bob.  All the best to you and your family.

Bob, you were able to say goodbye to your brother, and meet up with your other brother.

That's important for all three of you.

My thoughts are with you.

Hi Bob

Sorry to hear your news.  I had something similar with my gran a couple of years back but I think on reflection that it was easier (for me) to be able to say goodbye properly.

Best wishes, Mike
