Okee dokee,
So I had no idea where to post this topic, as this topic seemed a bit irrelevant to all of the other categories, so I decided to post it here!

I was just wondering if anybody knew where I could buy a range of modern N scale British cars (Mercedes, VW, BMW etc.) for a decent price  :help:. The only N scale British vehicles I can find on the web are all Morris Minors and old jaguars etc, but for my modern image 'London-based' layout, these wouldn't really fit in. I really need some modern cars for the layout. The most modern car I have on the layout currently is a London taxi, and even this is an older version  :(!

So, once again, I was just wondering if anybody knew any suppliers of N scale modern British motors!

Many thanks,
Matt

Tomytec do modern "British"cars like the Toyota Prius, Previa and the Honda Jazz among others

There's a very good article about N Gauge road vehicles in the latest N Gauge Society Journal. Apart from the Tomytec range, there's not a lot of modern cars suitable for UK N Gauge but things are getting better.

[Nitpicking] Merc, VW and BMW are all German cars not British,  Ford, Vauxhall, Land Rover and Jag are made in Britain as are some Nissan and Honda (although the owning companies are multinationals)[/Nitpicking off]

Having had a quick look at Oxford Diecast  and can see your point, I found 4 possibles at Antics

:searchingsign:  Try Googling "1:148 model cars"
Cheers MIKE

"N Gauge Discussion" maybe since it's about N gauge? That's where this thread is going now anyway :D

This has long been a major gripe within the N Gauge community, if you're modelling anything up to about 1970ish, then you're fine. But trying to model anything from then onwards there is a very definite lack of vehicles.

Ok you can use some of the mid-60 style cars in the 70's as they were still knocking around, but look at our OO brethren, and especially the Cararama range, and you will see a plethora of vehicles suitable for almost any era from 1970 onwards.

I know that there are a few vehicles around, but those that are around are 1:160 and the majority are of Japanese models (as has already been mentioned), what I am looking for, and I imagine a lot of other people as well, are the likes of Ford Fiestas, Escorts, Capris, Cortinas, Sierras (Although available in 1:160), Focus etc. Vauxhall Vivas, Chevettes, Cavaliers etc. BL cars like, Avengers, Marinas, Maestros (I think there is a 3d print one on Shapeways), Montegos etc. And I'm sure there are ones that I've forgotten.

Now I do realise that there are Commercial implications to be thought of, but surely if the manufacturers have got permission to produce a particular vehicle in one scale, then porting it to another scale is not that difficult. In the meantime, we'll just have to continue to populate our Models with Japanes cars, 2cv's, Mini's, Beetles, London taxi's and 1:160 efforts from Wiking  :unimpressed: :unimpressed:

Neal.

I would like to get a hold of a Hook Loading truck with a UK style Cab, if anybody knows where to get a hold of one. The kind of thing that picks up large 20' refuse containers and pallet loads.

If you're prepared to buy from shapeways, there are allot of 1:148 scale vehicles on there Range Rovers etc.

Cheers, Mark.

Cheers Railwaygun, that's exactly what I'm after, especially with the DAF cab rather than the MAN SV.

Depends on the definition of 'modern', but for 70s and 80s, these guys are pretty good...they produce models in 1/148.
