I'm not (nor ever will be) on Facebook so would appreciate anyone who is making a plea for a cattle lorry circa 1950/1960's. Thanks.

Four new releases planned for June 2015:-

NFT002       Ford Transit van "Royal Mail"
NFT016.      Ford Transit van "AA"
NPE007.      Plaxton Elite Coach "Scottish City Link"
NPP003.      Plaxton Panorama 1 coach "Neath & Cardiff"

It is possible that there will be further new items later in the month.

On Sunday 31 May Lyndon Davies - MD of Oxford Diecast will be on the Oxford Diecast Collectors page on Facebook to reveal the next planned models and new shapes from their June to September catalogue. The announcement to the model trade is scheduled for Monday 1 June.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the regular updates - very helpful and on several occasions have prompted me to seek out the latest release, that otherwise I might have missed!

Do you happen to know if N Gauge will be featuring at all in the new release announcements scheduled for tomorrow evening?

cheers

Ben A.

I am as much in the dark as anyone else regarding the announcements. I would expect there to be some new N gauge liveries and maybe a couple of new shapes. The Facebook session is a regular event on the group and is intended to be the first place for any announcements. Normally Taff shows progress on announced but not yet released items, as well as previewing entirely new items. This covers all scales and ranges.  A new "construction equipment" range is expected  which may or may not embrace N. The session is not generally the time for wish-listing, and there is a separate Facebook Group specifically for that. None of the groups is run by Oxford Diecast, and to my knowledge this is the only internet venue where the MD interacts directly with the customer base.

Hopefully there will be enough variety for there to be something for everyone, but you never quite know.

I would agree with Mike I have taken part / viewed several of these in the past and they can be a bit odd. As he disappears off to cook tea or what ever. You need too be a member to view it all so ask to join in advance. It does not play out in any order either so you have to pay attention or you may miss something and it can go on for hours, the last one finished about 11ish I think.

One interesting comment from OD last night was the following:-

"I get regular emails on the N scale suggesting that we are not producing enough. The market is smaller than the other scales, so our decision making is driven by the commercial realities. Our investment in the range continues and by the year end we will have released over 275 items in this range."

And on a more general point not specifically N :-

"Those who know me will realise that I enjoy straight talking, so if you are prepared to comment, then you have to take the response. So what I would say is "We are always open to constructive criticism, but if our products are disappointing you, put your money where your mouth is and invest in some tooling yourself. Our releases this year – 17 new moulds and over 100 different liveries, some with additional tool mods." Of course I respect your views and we being in the public eye have to take the rough with the smooth."

So who wants to commission 2000 model cars?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the update.  The Network Rail landrover looks like a good one for our layout.

In terms of his comments on N-Gauge, he is right; the market is smaller.

Assuming his products are produced in a similar fashion to current model trains - ie CAD design then drives mould cutting tool then it may be worth looking at the 4mm range to see what might be suitable for shrinking, and then find out how much it would cost and what the minimum order would be.

It may be worth starting small with, say, a trailer that would complement the existing tractor mouldings, or a different livery on a existing moulding.

This might then be a suitable crowd-funding project; either with us at Revolution or as your own project.

cheers

A .pdf version of the new catalogue is available at:-

http://media.solnet.co.uk/oxford/june_sept_2015/files/assets/common/downloads/June%20-%20Sept%202015.pdf

The N gauge items are on pages 30 - 36.

This is a big file with some high resolution images so do not expect an instant download, especially if a lot of people are downloading simultaneously!

It can also be viewed on line at:-

This is a Flipping Book which some folk have problems mastering. Me included.

Drat. Still no cattle lorry but I'm certainly interested in the ice cream van.
