Not train related I know but thought I'd share a few photos I took today of the car transporter ship stranded on a sandbank in the Solent..

cheers, Stu.

Nice pictures Stu.

I haven't seen the news about this yet - did everyone get off the ship ok?
Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!

Thank you, yes I think everyone got off ok, just 1 with minor injuries, a lucky escape I think, apparently its full of brand new cars & was headed for Germany. They've now got to try & get it off the sandbank!!

Looks like there's gonna be a few paint jobs needed there then!  ::)

A photographer on the Isle of Wight has photoshopped a huge "L" plate on the stern!

I wonder what has happened to the 3,000 cars on board?

I was always told to avoid brambles, interestingly, the ship is aground on the Brambles sand bank! :bounce: :bounce:

Apparently it was a deliberate grounding after she developed a list. As to the cargo I suspect that will be one for the insurers. If it's shifted that might not make the salvage fun.
At least there is a handy place in the solent to park your ship in case of emergency, out of the traffic.
