I recorded an episode of this last week and have seen what looks like a different episode on this Sunday although it won't offer me the series link (on Sky +) so I'm not 100% sure. It looks at Japanese railways a bit like Michael Portillo has done with UK and continental railways only the Michael Portillo of the episode I saw is called Katsura Sunshine who is a Canadian born storytelling comedian (allegedly) who now resides in Japan. There are a couple of clips of I believe what is Japan's largest model railway although I can't remember what it is/was called.
The next episode is on channel number 507 NHK World HD at 12:10am, 6:10am, 12:10pm and 6:10pm this Sunday (all the same episode).

I've just found a link which tells you a bit about the series.

Sounds plausible enough. Only the other evening I was watching a programme featurine a Japanese-speaking person of very African origin filmed hitchhiking through Spain.

Or put it another way - if you're photogenic with "media presence" and can speak fluent Japanese, a media career here is a viable option.

I've vaguely heard about the series but never seen it.

There's a "filler" programme here called "See the World by Train" which is on regularly featuring foreign trains which is always nice to see. It's only about 5 minutes but it's a different stage of the same journey every day.

I've just watched the second episode which has a different presenter, Christelle Ciari (on the left), who is much more pleasing to the eye than Sunshine in the first episode but she gets very excited about the smallest of things. Ahem. Although still on a train journey there's not so much information regarding the actual trains.
