If you go to the RMWeb site there is a link towards the top for their Wishlist Poll 2014. I think I have just managed to complete the poll despite being a non-member on that site. I know we have an NGF wishlist but RMweb does offer some extra clout in certain areas so might be worth other people doing so.

As far as I can see, it is not an RMWeb poll per se, more a case of the forum being used as one of the vehicles for people to register their interests.

Personally, I think it is a good thing, and well worth spending a little time going through the questionnaire...it is very easy to use, as well as being pretty comprehensive.

What is interesting is the ever-reducing number of available Diesel prototypes on the list; still a little way to go on the electrics and a long way for units in general.

As much as would love this to happen, I am not holding my breath for the handsome LBSCR K Class to appear anytime soon...in either gauge :(

It is hosted on the rmweb site so that led to the conclusion. No excuses not to enter it now - unless you are uninterested in seeing new models appearing, I suppose.

Personally I'd like to see evidence of the already promised models >:(
Whilst it's great fun for everyone to contribute to a wish list I believe both Farish and Dapol are in a process of consolidation so it may be doomed not to be accepted by them.
Such wish lists also tend to carry a huge variety of 'minority' stock.
Sadly I can't imagine the business getting to the stage where they actually seek such information from the buying public

Agreed, but the purpose of this is more intended to be a guide for long-term future planning. There are, of course, plenty of outstanding models promised - and these should indeed be delivered prior to any 'new' models being developed.

My understanding is this will be more structured than the usual, 'I want, I want, I want' frothfest that crops up every now and then on every forum I am a member of. Nothing wrong with them, often they are a bit of fun, but I suspect this may be taken a little more seriously than most, if nothing more than to give an indication of the sort of things modellers would like in the future.

This particular poll has a good track record in that the top models on the 00 list normally appear on the manufacturers' lists in the following couple of years.  i do not think that the N list gets enough support to be taken seriously though that could change if members of a big N forum all voted in it. This particular poll is supported by several magazines and publicised on scale specific groups.

Manufacturers need a rolling programme of models under development in N if they are to continue to support the scale. A strong Interest in this poll might encourage them to speed up development of new items including announced but not yet developed models already in their catalogues.

It's a pity there isn't an option for a decent class 25...

The RMWeb poll is farfrom perfect, but it is the best attempt I've seen (and has been used by the manufacturers in the past).

From the perspective of those of us potentially interested in commissioning models it can also be a useful source of information provided as many people as possible fill it in. Low response rates to the N gauge poll are reported to the modelling media and only perpetuate the myth/mistake that N is not worth bothering about.

On the 'other forum', there is also a thread discussing 'Market Viability' - not going to repeat it all here, but will provide a link to it so that you can read it yourself:

http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/90863-market-viability-where-do-we-go-from-here/

The interesting bit is on the first page, and has lots of stats about market share, etc as reflected by the 2013 Wish List Poll hosted there. The TL:DR is that the proportion of people who responded to the 2013 N Poll, compared with total responses, is broadly in line with the proportion of sales of N Gauge, compared with total sales, as reported by manufacturers.

Have submitted my entry, but one wagon I want wasn't there  ie. cartics I have some Ford vans and wanted to run their Dagenham - Halewood train which had a mixture of vans and cartics. Does anyone make them already?

Hi Steve

Yes, the NGS make a nice kit of the Cartics! There are one or two very useful threads on here about building them.

Cheers, Mike

If the wagon you wanted was the 1960s 'Cartic-4' then this was listed in section 14 - NPCCS, as these were passenger-rated.
