I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that Gareth was looking at producing his own Waterslide decals because of the prices for certain decals he needs for certain A.E.M kits mainly Prototype Diesels.

The printing company he uses, print on A4 size sheets and each decal is printed onto a thin layer of gum, so it lifts off carefully once wet, so there is no need for actually cutting as close as you can on certain home printed sheets such as Crazy Paper.

So basically you have 1 massive sheet for N Gauge, minimum order is 100 sheets, which he can pay for, but he will never use that many in his life time and I cant paint a locomotive to save my life and neither can Andrew (sorry mate you not being left out now). The price also depends on how many colour's he wants and he has quoted the following so far.

White, Black, Red, Silver, Gold, light Blue

He wants to do the following on the this sheet

British Railways Lion and Wheel emblems in different sizes plus the round type used on coaching stock.
Silver Lion and Wheel emblems that where on AL type locomotives
KESTREL
DP2
LION
FALCON
E2001
18000
18100
GT3
British Rail White and Silver Arrows various sizes
Data panels pre tops and tops x 100
Electrification flashes x 500
Numbers Pre tops and Tops, white and silver
Head code panels black to fit certain class types with white numbers and white dots to apply on top.

This is an A4 size sheet, so if there is anything you think should be added if you are modelling this era, then please speak now, Price T.B.A but it will cost you less than going else where and I am hoping they will be allowed to sell these via the emporium.

I make the class 128 bodies so I guess I could do with a few Gloucester parcels prints.  I usually get four sets to a piece of A4

Obviously price dependant...

You see, I forgot Multiple Units!!! Whoops! :sorrysign: hence why we are asking  :photospleasesign:

One that is hard to find is the 'Parcels' text unless anyone knows better ?

Also for DMU you need guard and driver labels

And a magnifying glass, I cant see the L and R on my headphones, never mind small decals, anyway its been noted :thankyousign:
The background sheet colour I have been told is the same blue as the light blue above this box I'm currently typing in,
Ref "Guard" they are doing the round emblems for coaching stock, so it would be good to do them and I have seen our Paul's coaches have white decals on each end and think that C1 and C2 plus the box thingy may be worth fitting in to.

Hi

These are already available from Fox Transfers, Modelmasters and Railtec models so you might be better looking at other things that arn't available elsewhere.

Hi Paul
Thank you for the reply.

Gareth purchased a sheet of British Railways emblems the other week and got enough to do 8 locos for £7.00.

If he wants decals for one of A.E.M s Prototype locos then it is a lot more for that sheet and there are decals he has no use for because there are no kits available for certain locos on that sheet.
So he has gone to a printers who do aviation decals for him and who have produced vinyls and stickers for Bikes and Cars that we have built up in the past to sell and has got prices to produce a sheet of his own, BUT! he has to have 100 sheets done, which he said, He would never use in his life time.

So basically he said he would keep X amount back for his personnel use and retail the others at an affordable cost. so basically he is asking what would people like to see on the sheet to make it appealing to them. Its an A4 sheet, it is pretty big for N Gauge transfers, so obviously loads can be squeezed onto it.

That sounds like a great idea to get printed.

I will surely be buying a sheet just for the Lion decals! I have the body kit ready and waiting.

A bunch of loco numbers would be great... Good, crisp dry rub ones are hard to find, so a waterslide with no carrier film might be a really good option!

A couple of random ideas that might make the sheet more useful...
Little red dots for the cab sides... Were they route indicators?
Shed allocation stickers e.g. LA for Laira in a white box to go above the TOPS data panel.
The little black numbers for the front of DMUs

I'm a personality prototype... you can tell, can't you.

DCCDave

A few random thoughts:

'1' for first class carriages.
'XP' for fitted freight.
'No Smoking' for coach windows.
'C1' for coach ends.
Red lining for boiler bands
White vertical bands for shock wagons and vans (two sizes there).

Cheers
Dave

We found a load of N Gauge pencil rub transfer in a box of junk that Andrew brought down to Gareth's last year, They came from a company called Replica Railways who I remember, because they use to do a OO gauge Peak, because I had one of those many moons ago when I was a Peak Basher. Back to the subject though, these had dried up otherwise I would have given them to you. but R.R may exist still or possibly not because i have not seen anything of theirs in the shops that we visit, I'm not actually a modeller by the way, but my son is and has a model station based on South Wigston.

I seem to have become a secretary for Gareth and Andrew and not getting paid, hmmmmmmmmmm. But i actually think this is a great Forum and my son Paul does to, so we don't mind having a read and make the odd posting here and there.  :sorrysign: Back to the subject

The decal sheet, if you can think of any running numbers, then go for it, Gareth is having the D600 series printed and is considering those nameplates because of the red and silver. Class 15 and 16 numbers are on this to. I keep looking at an A4 size piece of paper and thinking they can get loads on this.

some lines and corners would be nice in several colours for loco and coach lining , BRITISH RAILWAYS for tenders with numbers to match , for diesels Scotty Dogs, Kingfishers , Spitfire ,etc.
British Transport Police markings for Oxford type cars .

All the bits you need for Parkwood's 10800 are on on the Model master sheets.

Most of the big gaps I'm aware of tend to be pre BR era, notably LMS coach decals, earlier SR coach decals (and 'Southern Railway'/'First'/'Third' etc logos)

I do keep a list of Decals I couldn't find but the only other one on that list which is BR era is "Royal Mail", and I think the NGS may now cover it (plus the formerly-Royal Mail gets arsy about their 'mark').

Others are things like Great Central crests and locomotive lining, which won't sell by the 100 8) and don't exist for a jolly good reason.

UM do both a "Director" and a J11, so potentially a few sales for anyone daft enough to want to (e.g.) do a D11 in fully lined out GC livery maybe??

Roy

Ahhh at last a response, :claphappy: I thought everyone had forgotten about this thread :confused1:

I think this sheet is aimed more at modern image diesels and electrics in that era (BR Green to BR Blue) and not Steam locomotives, because Andrew does not have steam locomotive kits and Gareths current masters are all diesel and other, but not steam, but it does not meen he will not consider it, I will speak to him later when hegets back home and see what he says  :thankyousign:
