A VERY quick i'net search indicates that there are 1:144 Jav' models 'out there', but I haven't been able to locate an exact manufacturer.

HOWEVER, there is a '1/144 Gloster Javelin Fighter Aircraft' on E-bay at the moment- the asking price being USD13.06.  The pic isn't very informative, but  the model is on a stand and seems to be of either a prototype or a very early FAW1 - no armament fitted.

Perhaps worth a look?

I remember seeing a Vulcan fly at the SouthEnd show in 1989 when I was 6-7 years old.  The loudest thing I'd ever heard!!!!!!!  Absolutely terrific aircraft....and to think that most of the 'technology' inside it consists of pulleys and levers.   

I remember being on holiday in Wales - climbing mountains etc. and watching the Vulcans fly down the valleys BELOW where we were standing... 

Oh yes and the Phantom pilot who flew by my sister twice to get a second look...

Ah.... the Vulcan. I'm not sure if I have related this before on the forum, but if I have and you have seen it, bear with me.

Way back in Jan or Feb 1971 (I think Jan), I was spending a couple of days back at my parents' place in Houghton-le-Spring, Co. Durham as a break from college. This particular morning, I heard the sound of a relatively low plane, and went out to take a look.

To my astonishment, it was a Vulcan, and as I watched it pass overhead, saw a bright flash. It began making funny noises,and as I continued watching it heading south, saw black smoke streaming out of it, watched it start curving to the east, and then plummet downwards.

An old guy who would head past our place to go and play dominoes at the local pub at that time every day was walking by, and I said "Look, LOOK! There's a plane crashing!!" He said, "Yeah, right" and just kept walking.

I ran inside and got the only camera I had, a Kodak Brownie with B&W 127 film, and took a shot. I ran round to the neighbour and he didn't believe me either. Ten mins later he came running in: "Yeah, I heard it on the radio!"

Anyway, I was worried that it had come down on the town (my mother was at work there at the time) but it crashed at a coal mining village (Wingate) to the east of Durham. It hit a paddock, and the crew had bailed out, so there were no casualties.

The picture I took only showed a speck in the sky, but I enlarged it myself back at college and you can clearly see the plane going down. Unfortunately I haven't got it these days, though I have a feeling I brought it to Oz and it could be here somewhere.

Maybe someone has more info about that incident?

Wikipedia...  On 7 January 1971, Vulcan B.2 XM610 of No.44 Squadron crashed after fatigue failure of a blade in the No. 1 engine that damaged the fuel system and led to an engine fire. The crew abandoned the aircraft safely, and the aircraft crashed harmlessly in Wingate.

I love the Vulcan bomber, I think it was the film Thunderball that first brought it to my attention.  It is such a distinctive and beautiful shape.

I didn't choose my current flat because it is close to the home of a running (if not flying) Vulcan but it is one of the reasons why I love living here.  I'm close enough to hear it when those Bristol Olympus (IIRC) turbojets are fired up!

Got an old Frog kit of a Javellin (in 1:72) won on ebay - the box was still in it's original cellophane wrapper when it arrived.

Must get round to builting it one day!

Thanks for asking, but 'fraid not; the Antipodes during the '60's when AOCFEAF used to send the occasional example south 'to show the flag and impress the locals...' (and leave a few 'bits' behind on runway's, 'just for effect', as examples of how good the the RAF was at 'low flying').
