Hi, I have recently bought a graham farish class 47 and it runs well apart from whwn running over points. It will stop or sonetimes wheel spin. All the other locos (class 108 and royal scot steam loco) run fine. The layout is DCC and points are electrofrog. Any ideas? Thanks

It may be one of the early ones, on the 47 404 'Hadrian' & I think 47 035 and possibly some of the green ones the gear casings underneath the bogies fouls on the points if they are the rounded type, Farish modified the later ones by flattening off the gear casings, do you have any photo's of it?

I have had the same problem with my Farish class 47's.I have three of these loco's and only the latest one "Geordie" doesn't do this.
My versions are the large logo 47535 and a blue one which I think is 47403.
What you will have to do is remove the bogie frames and remove some of the plastic from the underside of the gearcasings.You don't need to go mad with it,just enough so as it doesn't force the wheels up off the track causing loss of current or to catch the track and stop the loco.It only takes a few minutes for each bogie frame to be done and once refitted they run over the points perfectly.
Always remember to remove the bogie frames before you do any filing as if not,the minute filings may contaminate the gearing causing even more headaches and bad running.Also,once the filing has been done,clean the bogie frames thoroughly of debris before refitting.

I have 47035 and Hadrian and suffered exactly the same problems over a lot of my points (all Peco electrofrog) - I did what Pete Mc says to do and it sorted the problem out instantly. Nice, easy and quick job, transformed the running. I think I got the answer from this forum too, when I was but a lurker.

Yes, I had to do the same with my class 47 Hadrian, took bogies apart and carefully filed about 2mm off the gear casings, runs a treat now, lovely & smooth & no stopping on points.
