Derigistering Windows 8.1
« on: September 14, 2014, 03:52:23 PM »
Calling all experts,

I have a laptop which I had upgraded to Windows 8.1.  Currently I am having lots of trouble with this machine and therefore wish to deregister the windows software from it, so that I can use it to upgrade another computer.

My question is how do I do this?  There seems to be little or no information on this topic from Microsoft - their website is all gobble-de-gook to me.

Thanks in anticipation from a super silver surfer.

Just install it using the OS install disk and re enter the activation code when installing on the new machine... Follow onscreen instructions and if auto activation fails, you call the phone number supplied and tell the nice Indian person your computer broke so you had to reinstall the software, they read out a key over the phone that you enter on the screen..

Bobs your uncle fannys your Aunt!

Well now Bob doesn't that sound simple - oh why can't Microsoft just add this little tit-bit to their info.

Thanks Bob I will give it a go and hopefully will be running the all singing  all dancing Windows 8.1 again soon.  Of course if I run into difficulties then it will be back to thedrawing board.

If you have to do phone activation the most of the time its an automated system, that reads a code back to you to type in, have a pen and paper handy.
