Hi,

Locomotion models have finally unveiled their "top secret" OO project - the prototype APT.

Details here - http://www.locomotionmodels.com/index.htm .

Me too... just look at the spec! Might have to give this one serious thought though.

As an aside, Rapido produce N scale models so there is an outside possibility of this getting the shrink ray treatment. I reckon if there is enough interest then it might just happen. Jason is a crazy guy, let the lobbying begin!

What a fantastic choice - I hope it sells well as Locomotion needs the money.  If it does, I wonder if they might move on to the APT-P or is there a lot of differences?

N gauge did get the Blue Pullman so you never know...

The APT-P is a very different beast from the APT-E. The only thing that is common is the general profile and that is mainly to accomodate the tilting action.

Ah well, not my era but worth asking the question.  :D

Me want....Me want....Me want

Almost made me think about going back to OO, then I shook my head and thought, "nah don't be stupid, I'm sure they'll shrink it for us, won't they  :hmmm: :hmmm: "

I would pay £225 for an N gauge version, especially there was a waiting time of 18 months to get it. That's only £12.50 a month to put away!

Seems I'm going to have to keep trying to convince the wife that a garden railway is the way to go. I can have OO as well as N then  :)

In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

That is something I would love to get for Reading. I remember seeing it in the early 70s. It was so totally space age to a young trainspotter.

I seem to have a tendency towards collecting iconic trains now that i have the Blue Pullman, and am thinking of getting the Brighton Belle. Part of me wants this APT-E in OO just because it's there...

I'm slowly making my own prototype HST, and the APT-E in N to go with it would be fantastic.

Ooooh, I hope it comes to N :envy:

Right date for me, I could see it running test runs on my layout without me having to invoke Rule One!

Right chaps,

I put the question to Rapido Trains via RMWeb this morning and as of yet have not had a reply direct from Rapido, but a reply from Andy York http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/87114-the-official-rapido-apt-e-thread/page-6 post #138 basically saying that Locomotion have no plans at the moment, but if the demand was there, they'd probably think about it......

Also I had a reply from another RMWebber "How about giving them time to release their OO model first? It has only just been released, perhaps they will move into n after they see how popular it is in OO?" typical bl00dy response from an OO'er methinks  ;) ;) ;)

So the long and the short of it is, we need to lobby Locomotion to even consider an N Gauge version, so how do we lobby Locomotion?? One big petition or individual emails??

Regards

Neal.

Or we stand outside their offices and don't let them out until they agree to release it in N gauge
