I have always had an interest in my surroundings.  Whether it is history of an area I live in or just an awareness of odd facts, of little value generally, about my locale.

However since rekindling an interest in railway modelling your eye is turned to another level of detail.  Textures of brick or wood, the construction of buildings and materials used and how railways blend into the environment.

I am fortunate to live a matter of yards from a former railway line and a short walk from what was the local station.  Both have now be converted for use to a Metrolink line.  The infrastructure is very similar and while pondering how I will implement a road over twin track bridge on my layout I actually realised that they are two bridges nearby which achieve this!

Also I find myself on the lookout for odd materials, wood, card, foam...what ever it might be that will come in useful.  Fortunately these are in plentiful supply at work and often discarded.

From now on no cereal box will be thrown away!

My poor little bungalow is slowly filling up with 'things that may come in useful at some point'.
Luckily the ex did not appear under that heading

We have several recycling bins.

The most important one is 'Possible Layout Use'' Keeping that under control is a real challenge!
