Nice going.

I got a Dapol HST in Cross Country from the Dapol stand for £80!! I nearly bought one a week ago for £128, I came so close to buying another at that price!

I planned to spend more, but couldn't find the loco I was after! So I only bought a German water tower, a couple of catalogues from Faller and Fleischmann (I know I can look online, but sitting in a comfortable armchair browsing through catalogues while drinking tea is much more pleasant than sitting in the chilly spare bedroom on the PC - which I am doing now!  :cold:) and a new NGS Journal binder! And this is despite SWMBO actually trying to convince me to buy a Dapol Terrier - she thought that 'Martello' looked SOOO cute!  :confused1:

Although my credit card is in front of me - so I may well have to order the loco I was after at the show! Even though Gaugemaster were there they didn't have one of these with them - http://www.gaugemaster.com/item_details.asp?code=M12515

Spent most of the day there yesterday, bought a rake of auto ballaster's & a BDA Bogie Bolster in Loadhaul livery, Went to have a look at MRS's baseboards hoping to do a deal as I need 3 (2 x 5 x 3 & 1 x 6 x 3) but they don't take any to the show so I've had to order them on line and pay £19 P&P & no deal.
Took my youngest Daughter (15) with me to the show, so today she has gone through my garage & the bit's box & found a 4' x 2.5' piece of MDF, some track & points, has now designed a layout that she wants me to help her build.
Seems like a good idea at least I will have something to play with till my new baseboards arrive (4-5 weeks MRS reckon).

Did hammer the old credit card a bit with the 6 coach Midland Pullman. Got it from Cheltenham Model Centre £40 off RRP. I didn't dare look anywhere else in case we saw it cheaper. It's my Xmas present from SWMBO. Bought the decoders for it as well.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

I got my Tripple Grey Coal 58 from Dapol for £60. Made the guy next to me chuckle when I went:

"Boom! First one I put my hand on!"

As there was a stack of 4 of them, but the Coal logo was covered by the big "£60.00" green star. I then made him smile some more as I checked all 4 to see which box was in best nick!

I only just got in 5 mins before the doors opened for the general admittance, so did a quick scan of the big stalls for bargins from my list (see http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=8029.msg88535#msg88535). Didn't find a single 58 for less than £80.00, and none in coal until I got to Dapol.

Also got myself a blue / grey inspection saloon. Didn't think I would get one as:

a) The que was huge to begin with
b) I had not pre-ordered one.

When I found the que had got much smaller I joined on the off chance. I then made yet more people laugh when I found out I could get one and was asked "which one"...only to go "erm!". I let the two guys behind me go before me as I agonised!

Happy with my choice, as it sits with my 08 in a siding at the TMD...

Finally, my £10.00 Nuke carrier was a real find  :D

Wow, well done with the bargains folks!

I nearly did thew same for £130 but glad I waited and picked up an FGW one from dapol at Warley,  to do the diversions as per xmas 2010 and planned Easter 2013 via Banbury.

Didn't get a lot ... N'spirations from N'tastic (I think it was ?) and a Dapol light-bar from (who else) Dapol.  Otherwise SWMBO got the Hornby 2012 wagon & the 2011 club engine (something for me to play with - both on DCCing the thing and also experimenting with painting etc the body - for a fiver, you can't go wrong !).  Some graphics (headboards / coach boards for some services we have), some white-metal solder (and a good chat with Richard from DCC Concepts), and that was about it ... !!!  Pretty much the only thing I wanted (and couldn't get) was the new handset for my Live Steam that the OO LS Club are getting made into a kit - boy, was that responsive !

Oh & I picked up an RSU I'd ordered too ...  ::)  That must have cost 5 times more than everything else put together  ::)

A little disappointed that we didn't see anything (loco / coach / wagon-wise) at a better price than we can get at our local store ... but not really surprised.

I amazed myself and actually only bought things I needed - which didn't include locos or rolling stock!!! I still don't know how I talked myself out of buying an inspection saloon, other than telling myself that they never appeared in the north east (my layout is based on Blyth, Northumberland).

The most interesting thing I bought was from Deluxe Materials - their needle applicator for solvent cement. I've tried it already and it really is good, when it works. I have found that it clogs quite easily despite follwing their instructions, but I've found an interesting answer to that problem which I'll explain separately in detail if anyone wants to know.

Otherwise I bought solvent from Deluxe Materials to match their afore-mentioned applicator, transfers from the N Gauge Society stand (pre-ordered) and a Wild Swan book 'The 4mm Wagon - Part 1' to match the other two parts I already had. This 3-part work is excellent for anyone wanting to modify or detail their N Gauge/2mm models despite the difference in scale.

I couldn't find anyone selling Dapol's short-shank auto couplers, and Ratio's downpipes and gutters in their Builder series are now rarer than hens teeth (and Dapol's auto couplers) - I understand production capacity may be the problem now that Peco have taken over the latter.

Still enjoyed the day, spent over £50 excluding entry, but was a little disappointed that Dapol and Bachmann had nothing new for me in N.

I went mainly to look at layouts for ideas and techniques so wasn't planning to spend a lot. I did buy some block detectors from Digitrains, some track cleaner and a pack of Mamod fuel tablets (the latter are nothing to do with railways though, they're for my small collection of Stirling Heat Engines).
