ok, so iv agreed with Dapol to pick up my silver link on saturday....even though im caught in two minds as after warley, any silver links left will be sent to any willing retailers to sell from what i hear which means they could be cheaper...i will probs get it at warley anyways!

but anywhoo,

i sat down last night and went through all the locos iv got including my newly added Pannier tank, and decided what their designated stock was...

i got all the way down to silverlink....i cant decide...do i get some mk2s and get some custom made transfers from electra, or airbrush them myself to matching livery, or do i get a different sort of coach all together...

what do you guys think? for those who have silver link, what do you run it with?

Hi

I generally have my Silver Link pulling 5 x Dapol GresleyTeaks with light bars fitted. - Looks good, ghostly in the dark but also seems fine pulling 8 x Lima marroon LMS coaches!! But I am not a purist!!

Cheers

P.S.

It's now a bit quieter and only rattles a bit, runs reasonably cool for a Dapol.

Iv just thought, would reliveries eurostar coaches not do the trick seeing as they havethe bogies required?

Or just be close enough?

Kato Eurostar coaches are 1/160 scale and have a unique coupling mechanism (which involves the bogies). Also they can't be sourced individually only in the Eurostar bookset or as an add-on set  - which is difficult to source and there are some silly prices on eBay for used ones.
Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

Look after it, one went for £235 inc. postage on that site yesterday!

It's not hard to do articulation with the Dapol Gresley bogies - I've done a couple of two coach sets and one day I'll get around to having a crack at the quint arts or the 5 coach GNR dining set  :-\

Not sure it matters what you run with it however. When it ran the real Silver Jubilee service all the evidence is that the loco had valences 8)
