Folks

As some of you may know I help organise DEMU's Showcase exhibition and we would welcome your help.
To give you a bit of background the exhibition is only for diesel/electric traction (apologies steam fans!) and we try to avoid repeat appearances of layouts (though we do make the odd exception).

One complaint has been that over the past year or two we have not had any traders selling RTR N - we are trying to address that situation in our planning for 2013, though we will continue to try and support the smaller N gauge traders who produce all those useful bits and pieces eg the likes of Bob and Adam from N Train/Electra, N Brass Locos, N Gauge Lines etc.

Last year we had some outstanding N gauge layouts in Kinlet Wharf, Waton and Embankment Road.  We would like to do even better over the next few years.

So I'd be interested to hear your views on your top 4 or 5 diesel/electric layouts (inevitably we will have had some previously but we might be able to make the odd exception to our no repeats policy).

Many thanks

Mike

It is a pity DEMU is UK only...there are some cracking overseas D&E layouts out there.

For UK, there is Cross Street and the still under construction Gresby which would make decent additions...although I'm sure you have already thought of them...

Bevois Park & St Denys ?

Or mine when it's finished :D

Thanks gents.

St Denys is definitely on the list of layouts I would like to get to Showcase.
Cross Street is a good call.

I'm really struggling with new D&E layouts. We hope to get Law Jn and Grange over Sands in the near future, but beyond that we have had the likes of Stoney Lane Depot, Acton Mainline (now in its Dragonby incarnation).

Cheers, Mike

Mike,

Of course you've missed out the fabulous Hedges Hill Cutting  :D :D

Also there's Mirlees and Free Debt Man's Choates Lane http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=1185.msg10977#msg10977

Regards

Neal.

HHC unfortunately has already been!

Choates Lane - that is a good idea, I must confess I didn't realise Tim and Stuart had finished it.  Is there any pics of the completed layout that I can show to our exhibition manager?

Thanks, M

Hello Mike,

You will also find other layouts such as the excellent North of England Line (Scarworth Junction) run, for example, steam on Saturdays and diesel on Sundays so you have the possibility of a few more, even though they are not dedicated D/E layouts.

Here are some pictures of Choates.  I will be getting more at Taunton and Warley.

Dragonby is also excellent but many people may have seen it in its former guise as Acton Road. I think its stil a stunner. I was looking at some picutres of it last night in model rrail and spotted fishplates on the track ...in N!

what about stoney lane depot?

do demu allow continental or american layouts?

Shaweport, are Drem and Ketton Castle still about?

BernardTPM

Acton Main Line, Shaun, not Road (for such an insignificant part of London, Acton has lots of stations!). The fishplates are a result of using code 80 - P4 fishplates were a perfect ft in the rail web!

Tim - great, I'll see Choates Lane at Warley :-)

Shaweport, Stoney Lane Depot, Embankment Road, and Acton Mainline have all been already.  Not sure about Drem or Ketton (though I dont think Ketton still goes out).

Banbury and Crossfields are both on my list of layouts I would like to see at Showcase!  Horseley Fields is another I had forgotten and I hope to see soon.

Thanks for all the ideas folks - much appreciated and if any more spring to mind please either let me know on here or drop me a PM or email.

Cheers, Mike

PS sorry it is a no to continental or American layouts as (like Steam) it is outside our remit.  There are some crackers out there but for a specialist show we have to stick to our theme I think. We are thinking about having an anniversary show sometime soon where we might be able to make the odd exception for something truly outstanding.
