I don't just think you have, I know you have, and you're beyond  :help:
The 'free transport' etc sounds like a plan, though ;)

I notice it says 'highly infectious to males' - think our lady modellers/enthusiasts may have summat to say about it :hmmm:

lots of people think i'm beyond help  :laughabovepost:

dont know about the "free transport"  :hmmm:

it was the "free Beer" that caught my attention  :D  :beers:

maybe it only effects a small part of the female population so it
doesn't count as "highly infectious" maybe just mildly infectious  :confused1:

Don't think I'll ask what the 'small part' is

I cant think of any hobby that is addictive as trains, we hear so many stories about trains as a child and then growing up and getting involved again, I guess its a case of "Once Bitten"

My earliest recollection of trains was when I was 5 and standing on a station at 8pm somewhere in Devon, this hissing smoking monster crept up the platform with just the platform lights to illuminate it, I was bitten, and have been a railway nut all my life

This is very true. For me it was being fascinated by the maze of lines at Clapham Junction with trains appearing from every direction and the weird sensation of appearing to go backwards when being passed by a faster train. My Gran used to take me out on the trains a lot - the Arun Valley line and Brighton lines being special to me too for this reason. So I have been 'bitten' by the EMUs!
Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

:smiley-laughing: :smiley-laughing: Only ever saw one A4 and that was the Dominion of Canada that was cracking 90mph plus up the the ECML, never got Bitten by that as in those days if it wasn't LMS it wasn't worth looking at, much different now

For me it's surprising I got into trains at all, travelled on them about three times in total up to the age of 14 or so as we went everywhere by car! Even those three times were on an ugly Class 305 EMU into Liverpool Street :uneasy:

Model railways were my initiation from about age 7, and it was only when I could afford to pay for my own ticket that I ventured down to Kings Cross to watch HSTs, 47s, etc come and go and over to Euston seeing 86s (I think?)

My first recollections were standing on Darlington Bank Top watching the Silver Link on it's way north. My dad bought me a Triang set, my elder brother bought me rolling stock out of his wages every week. When my younger brother was about 10 he wrecked the lot. 50 years later, I've just forgiven him.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

I remember being "bitten"  :D as such. 18 years old

I had nothing to do one lunch time whilst working in High Wycombe and so visited into the local model shop. I was making 'Protar' racing motorcycles at that point - saw an Illinios Central Diesel in N gauge and deciding that was it.

Never regretted it. Have drifted in and out of the hobby for many years, but have been an confirmed RR nut (SWMBO term) for the last 5 years.   :laugh3:
