I am thinking because of space a fold against the wall layout. Now I have done a search here and not come up with much.

has anyone pictures of their's here? ideas on best way to do it? and what are the pit falls.

I really do have to go this way.

The best way I've seen is to have a ledge securely mounted to the wall with the rest of the layout hinged to it. The ledge should be just wider than the tallest thing on the layout so nothing gets damaged by hitting the wall. You will also need a retainer of some description to hold the layout upright at the top when folded - a simple block with a swivelling 'catch' should be enough. Finally a folding leg at the furthest end from the wall to support it when in use.

I'm sure someone will be along with pictures of theirs soon if that all sounds like gobbledigook  :D

If aesthetics are important then you could get a cheap-and-cheerful picture to attach to the underside of the layout when it's finished so when folded up it just looks like a thick picture frame?  ;)

Hi, Sprintex has just about covered all the relevant info for you, so wont repeat it.

My first garage layout was a folding up one and was created by having a small frame built (8 x 6") and fitted to the wall first to give the necessary clearance when folding up and then the layout board (8 x 3)was hinged to this. The main board had a pair of fold down narrow "H" frames at the front edge for support when being used. I may still have the pics for this - if so will post them here.
The layout was held in place when folded away by a slidebolts (fitted underneath) that slid into appropriate fixings located on wooden battens on the walls.
