Ridiculous isn't it, they haven't even done Halloween yet  -at least, my local Tesco hadn't last week.

It's disgusting.

I can't skip Christmas because of Who it celebrates but I do despise this secular creep and miss the days when no songs or store stuff came out until after the US Thanksgiving was over.
Spend as little as possible on what you need so you can spend as much as possible on what you want.

My wife is very happy, as Tesco in Dereham have set up their Xmas aisle and they had Terrys White Chocolate oranges. She's been suffering withdrawal symptoms for a few years now.....

Still way too early though!

And there was I thinking that white chocolate was only for the Milky Bar Kid!

Perhaps to appreciate it properly you need to be dressed up in a cowboy outfit?

They're a bit slow out of the traps. Sainsbury's Haywards Heath were well ahead - see Unhappy Thread, reply #3599.

Before you know it there'll be no room at the Premier Inn.

Sorry.

The trouble is that supermarkets aren't stupid. If it wasn't selling then they wouldn't take up valuable shelf space. So someone is buying it. Come on, own up, there must be someone on the forum who has bought some of it.

I've previously seen discounted BBQ charcoal on sale next to mince-pies (with a best before date several weeks before the 25th Dec).

Still, only 120 days until easter eggs re-appear.

Christmas, the so called "Golden Quarter" for retail that seems to get earlier every year.

I refuse to buy Cadburys chocolate these days due to the reduction of cocoa used and increase in cheaper ingredients. I also check the labelling of all brands and anything using palm-oil I won't buy, as palm plantations are a huge cause of deforestation which amongst other man derived causes is gradually killing the planet.

Many moons ago my kid brother had a school project about summer shopping and I discovered for him that John Lewis in-store Christmas selling in Milton Keynes began on 16th August!  :o

The tradition almost certainly continues and today my JL app had a banner advert featuring Santa with this paragraph beneath:

" Get on Santa's guest list first! You can now book your exclusive early slot for Santa's Tea Party, including story time, cocoa and a scrummy snack for kids – there's a hot drink and slice of cake for adults, too. Plus, every child gets an inspiring gift from Plus-Plus to take home. Slots are limited, so get your tickets before they sell out."

I wonder if 'Mr & Mrs Jones' have signed up already? :hmmm:

My local Tesco sells mince pies and hot cross buns all year around.
