Can anyone help me ?  :-[

I have had a Class 55 Deltic D9002 in two tone green for some time now and have never used it. This is because I have no idea what coaches would be correct to haul with this loco. This is embarrasing but I know nothing about coaches. Can those who have the knowledge please help me out ? so I can add this to my fleet on the rails.

Thanks

There are images on these sites but these are pictures of them hauling specials like the Orient Express

Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

I'd guess maroon mk1s if you want period trains although 9002 was repainted green in the early 1980s before withdrawal so blue/grey mk2s (and possibly mk3s) would also be okay;

The class 55 was an express passenger loco.
Yours could be used with the farish mk1 in maroon, also the farish mk1 pullman coaches in umber/cream and if modelling the 1960's maybe even Dapol gresley coaches in maroon. If you are modelling the late 60's then the blue/grey livery could be used too, mixed colour rakes were common around the change over times. That would also allow you to use the forthcoming mk2a coaches from Farish.
D9002 was repainted green around 1980 but carried the number 55002 which would allow you to use the Farish mk2d coaches in blue/grey, these are cheaper but nowhere near as well detailed as the mk1 and gresley coaches.
When you make up the train remember to use a brake coach in the rake and if you are portraying an express then a buffet and some first class accomodation as well as second class would look good.

Above all, It's your railway and you should run what you like!

Have fun!

Thanks to all who have replied so far, I did not have any idea that such a choice would be available, the period in time does not really matter as my layout is such, that it could be any era.  After looking at all the suggested sites, it is tempting to do a mixed rake, however the Umber and Cream Pullman's sound good also as is the possibility of Virgin stock.  It looks like depending on what is chosen a re number of the loco may be required.

Will have to think hard before parting with the cash and I am so pleased to get help with this one. Any other comments will still be welcomed.
