New one on me. I confess I don't use the gallery all that much, it's far too clunky, but all my photos have been uploaded directly from my phone. When I look in the gallery they're typically 2-300kB, so there's obviously some compression, as they're ~10x that on my phone. Tried to do it last night, but getting told the maximum file size is 976kB. Was there previously some compression element which is no longer working? Tried my personal gallery and the 'public' one to the same effect.

Yes, I agree, it is indeed clunky. I post pics the long way round.

Unfortunately, I'm not computer savvy enough to do anything about it

I've given you a larger space for your account.

Yes, there are numerous things that aren't right on the forum.  I just don't have the time right now to sort everything out - I start a new job next week being one reason.  So, we're just ticking over right now.  :)  Hopefully I in my next set of annual leave I can get some of the updates and other issues sorted out.

I've never had that problem,  I tend to crop and resize my photos before uploading as I can't see the point of adding huge photos that you have to scroll to view.  It's a modelling forum not a photography site.

My uploads are typically 500Kb-700Kb and often less.  I do notice a few photos are 1.2-1.4Mb as a 1600x1200 landscape, they obviously uploaded ok.

If you are using Windows, there is a useful download from Microsoft called "Power Tools" that includes a Picture Resizer.

You just need to right-click on the image icon and select "Resize Picture", then select from a selection of options. I use this a lot for web posting, as phone pictures can be massive.

Have had the same and sometimes after uploading a couple of similar sizes previously (same session) the only way round it is to go away and come back and seems to work again without having to resize them - as there does seem to be something that does that.
Possibly there is a cache or something filling up and it flags a large file when it isn't as internally the cache is full or something.
Is a pain but workable to get round. The process is clunky but that is more the forum software than anything else I think.

FWIW I don't want to upload huge photos, I agree with ntp in that I'm not looking to post huge photos, but I also CBA to resize them, never have had to previously. They're typically much larger on my phone, so my presumption was that something resized them natively. Of course I could upload them to the computer first to resize etc, but I won't, because I'm lazy!

@Tank - you do plenty, wasn't a dig!
