How many of us expressed an interest in the Dapol West Country/Battle of Britain pacifics in 2011?

I know that the issue of the BoBs/WCs from back then is still irksome to a number of people, but I think it is fair to say that we are in a different place today, and following enough people expressing interest, both the Gresley BG and modified Buffet have moved forward very rapidly.

Agreed Roy, back then Dapol had a habit of announcing plenty to stake their claim it seems, now stuff is announced when its beyond the "thinking of maybe looking at a picture of the real thing" stage, plus side is if they did the light Pacific's then would we be wanting an upgraded model now to suit newer models

I think the accurate answer is "none" because they weren't offered on that basis...

It may be that many placed pre-orders with retailers (on whatever terms the individual retailer set) but that is a different thing...

Those pre-order agreements will presumably have been long-cancelled be either the retailer or customer, and what was touted then by previous Dapol staff as part of their "mythical seven", bears no relation to the imminent product...

The WC/BoB wasn't part of the Magnificent Seven models.
Magnificent 7 were: Pendolino, HST, Class 153, B1, Class 26, 28xx and the Class 56

All released by Dapol apart from the Pendolino.

Lets not kid ourselves that Dapol are the only ones with long lead times:
Farish took an age with the Birdcage coaches (8 years), and 6 years for the class 450s.

Peco scheduled the HAA for 2000 but it didn't arrive until 2004.

We're still waiting for the Revolution class 120 (four years with no CAD).

Hi all,

Yes, we have explained often that a lack of information has made this a very difficult project.

Last year we were finally able to get to the only remaining Class 120 car - the buffet at the Great Central Railway - and we are now making progress.

Properly researching older models can be difficult when drawings and the real thing are hard to come by.  This is why a OO manufacturer cancelled their announced model a few years ago.

And we haven't taken anyone's money for these.

cheers

Ben A.

Which Revolution has always been up front about. My comment wasn't meant as an attack on any company, merely pointing out that the delays associated with models (such as the BoB/WC) aren't unique to Dapol.

I was sure the class 92 was one of the Magnificent 7

Hymek and 9F I think were before the 7. Maybe they were running on the test track when the 7 were announced.

Oh how memories fail us.

To be fair Bob you are doing better than me, I had completely forgotten there even was a Dapol "Magnificent 7"
