This came up as a memory from my photograph collection this morning :

Not a great photograph but it's a reminder of the NGF Coach Tour in 2015 where the coach was posted from member to member and photographed on different layouts.

This is my long departed Trepol Bay layout.

It got me thinking though.
Is it something worth doing again?

Just a thought.

PS That looks like Bertie Poppingham's car on the bridge @Train Waiting
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Train Waiting

What a SuperSpiffing idea!

2015 was before my time on our FabulousForum so I wasn't involved. I'm fascinated that Bertie Poppingham participated, several years before I made him up. There's clearly even more to his jolly japes than I realised.

Yes, in my view, certainly worth doing again.

Whilst on the subject of 'doing again', so would Trepol Bay or, even better, Port Perran. Your posts about Port Perran were the first things I read when I was told about the NGF and I was convinced immediately to join. It was an absolutely fabulous layout.

With all good wishes.

John

The Table-Top Railway is an attempt to create, in British 'N' gauge,  a 'semi-scenic' railway in the old-fashioned style, reminiscent of the layouts of the 1930s to the 1950s.

I always thought that was a great idea. It went to Japan, and on the late Peter Charles Fagg's, if I recall.

I would be pleased to join in, I would have to run it on the club layout though as I've only got track laid at the moment.
Cheers  :beers:
Finally, after waiting over 55 years I am building a permanent layout in a purpose built shed!

Thanks for the memory @port perran .  I had meant to start work on another one, but time and a bad memory brought a halt to that!  I'm sure that there would be great interest.

I always used Electra for the graphics.  Any idea of a suitable company that's still in business, please?

Thank you.

I could probably knock up a full side decal for a clear Farish coach; I'm not exactly arty though! Happy to have a go.

I don't have a layout with any scenery, mind!

I recently put a photo of The Peter Charles Fagg memorial coaches which I now own , and the N G F 2015 coach on my layout if anyone wants to look they are on the N G F Facebook page .
I only met Peter briefly at T I N G S one year he was a very nice chap .I seem to remember how he built layouts but then got stuck and had to askfor help to wire it up .

So.... @njee20 is happy to have a go at the vinyls .
How do we go about choosing/supplying a carriage?
Do we want Mk1/2/3 etc?
I could supply a Mk1 but I guess it comes down to what we want.
Any thoughts?
Cheers

Yeah, Peter had a big layout that he made up as he went along. Legend.

I'm just wondering where that coach is now?

Can someone pick a suitable vehicle which is suitable for a wide range of 'Eras', or possibly have it as an enthusiasts special type of train so Rule 1 can be applied?
Just a thought!
Cheers!

Why? It defeats the purpose of the whole thing! It doesn't matter what era it is!

A bit of fun which advertises the forum as a by product.

I can provide a Farish mk2 (which is what the last one was). I agree with Bealman that I don't think it's worth worrying about prototypical fidelity, the coach itself is going to be inherently unprototypical afterall!

port perran

I agree.
Mk2 would be good but it doesn't really matter what it is as it won't, as others say, be prototypical anyway.

Looks like this one is on my plate then  ;D

If anyone has any suggestions for elements to include in the 'livery' feel free to shout. A nod to 'departed' members perhaps?
