That seems absolutely spot on, and I know there is plenty of help on this forum to guide me along the way    (or tell me where to go  )

I have been looking for a general idea at Longcroft (thanks John  ) as the rooms seem the same shape but there is more space in John's.

I like the idea of a double "Test track" on a higher level round the edge and the rest separate inside.

As the room has proper access I will have baseboards made to give me a good foundation, and while I wait for those I can settle in, find the pubs, and finish my little harbour layout, although maybe not in that order

My double test/running in track is very useful mate. The 2 tracks are not connected to each other, have just 2 sets of points on each and the tracks are code 80. The rest of the layout is code 55 of course. I sometimes leave new stock running on those 2 tracks and go and have my dinner, maybe a beer instead etc and I can watch anything running in on the CCTV which I have up there. You don't need that last part of course. It was one of my better ideas to do this
