Can I post here?
I know fox transfer make n gauge nameplates.
Are they make for 1/148 or 2mm finescale?
And I'll gonna renumber Dapol's Britannia and Bachfar's tornado.
Is there method to replace nameplate?(William Shakespeare to Dukenof Gloucester and Tornado to W.P Allen)
Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum;

The difference in size for a loco nameplate between N and 2mm is miniscule.

The nameplates will be for both scales.

'Duke of Gloucester' was a unique engine, not a Britannia; but I converted a Minitrix Brit to 71000 many years ago. Most obvious difference is the cylinders and valve gear, but I noted quite a lot of smaller details when I went thoroughly into it. The Duke also had a high-sided tender, rather than William S's small one.

Seems like I need to replace deflector completely and attach nameplate.
Is it possible to make caprotti valve gear your own?

You should be able to take the old nameplate off the deflector and glue the new one in its place.

You probably could make new valve gear, but I have to admit that I made a VERY simple version by snipping part of the original gear. I reshaped the cylinders with model filler. It wasn't accurate, but looked the part.

Look up Dr Al's workbench on the Forum, he may have made a Caprotti conversion of another class, but I can't remember.

Thanks for kind replying.
Is there easy method to detatch nameplate?
It seems hard to detatch it without break deflector

I think @Bigmac did a Caprotti Black Five recently, based on a Peco Jubilee.

yes--i recently converted a peco jubilee to a stanier black 5 caprotti--but its the low running board version, the valve gear is mostly internal--so all i did was remove the eccentric from the peco mech.

the real thing

i used to be indecisive...but now i'm not so sure.

Nice work!
Is it too risky for Dapol's Britannia?
And I'm trying to find method to detatch deflector's nameplate...

personally i wouldnt touch a dapol brit--they look lovely but rather delicate. Get hold of a cheap minitrix brit and play about with that.

This version of the Dapol Britannia has a tender closer to the Duke, rather than the one fitted to William Shakespeare;

https://railsofsheffield.com/products/dapol-2s-017-008-class-7mt-britannia-4-6-2-firth-of-forth-70051-br-lined-green-late-crest

I've usually found that careful use of a scalpel will remove the nameplate; I've renamed and renumbered quite a few of mine.

Since Dapol has many spare parts, I could purchase spare tender for Duke.
I could be quite annoying, but can you see complete walkthrough tonremove deflector? Maybe I should purchase putty in case of making cracks.

As for nameplates see

https://modelmaster.uk/453-2mm-n-gauge-etched-name-number-plates-steam
<snip>

Unfortunately Modelmaster are now best avoided. There are numerous instances (reported at length on several RMWeb threads) of Modelmaster taking payment and not supplying goods for months/years/at all.  His website CANNOT be relied on - it is extremely doubtful that he now actually has any 2mm items, having dumped them on the NGS.

He no longer takes PayPal and the suspicion is that PayPal have dumped him because of the number of refund claims processed against him. He now expects you to send payments by bank transfer - which is effectively saying goodbye to your money with no redress in case of non-supply.  He also never responds to email or phone enquiries.  It's all rather sad - it appears that running the business is getting beyond him.
