Has anyone else noticed the increase in the number of reviews being requested from any establishment you have dealings with?

Last Thursday morning I had a couple of tyres fitted to my jalopy and a couple of days later got a Trustpilot request for me to review the tyre company. That same afternoon I had a meeting with an adviser at my bank and, again, a couple of days later was asked to review their performance.
Out of the blue I got a request yesterday from my GP practice to review their performance.
I don't have any beef with requests for feedback but they need to be careful what they ask for as I speak my mind and rate them as I find them. Some will wish they'd never asked but if they can't take the bad with the good, then just don't ask in the first place. Do I think my comments are taken heed of and acted upon? Nah. I'll believe that when I see tangible results.

Yeah, I just ignore those or trash 'em, for the simple reason, like you say, that whatever you say makes no difference.

It's a good job I wasn't asked for a review of my tyre purchase for my kit-car. Bought through ASDA and done at a local garage. The kit car was off the road and I took the wheels (with old tyres on) in my Zafira. The tyre place wanted to see my (untaxed, un-moted, un-insured) kit-car to allow fitment, despite the order webpage not mentioning the car needing to be present at all.

From a hotel booking site, I got about a dozen e-mails asking me to review their service and /or the hotel starting BEFORE the day of the booking...

I left a review with a score of 4/5 for the hotel but 0/5 for the booking process and saying I was unlikely to recommend them giving the amount of follow-up Spam as the reason.
I actually got a follow-up phone call after that apologising and a £10 credit for my next booking so that one actually was read by a human!  :D
However when I did make another booking using the credit, of course the cycle of follow-up surveys was repeated, and as a consequence they got the same review...  ::)

I once gave bad feedback following an awful hotel stay and got a phone call threatening court action!

I referred him to the e-mails with photos and texts that we had already exchanged because of his appalling customer service and told him I looked forwards to my day in court. I never heard anymore  :D

I buy a few things through Amazon, mainly to avoid the hassle and added expense of buying direct from a company not in Ireland. The number of times I get a follow up satisfaction request is reedikolus - especially as the request quite often comes the day after I receive the item and sometimes, before the item has been received! How can I say how good/rubbish an item is if I have only got it the day before - or not got it yet? Those sort of enquiries go straight in the bin! I will, if warranted, give a good review and a rubbish review if necessary.

I gave poor reviews for a carpet company, maintenance company and a furniture company and got immediate response from the suppliers. Even got a £50.00 refund from one as the company recognised that their service fell below their expectations and prompt action of the floor tiles. I've had some silly requests as mentioned by other forum members, but I've found that leaving a review can be beneficial.

I had a minor gearbox problem on my car fixed under warranty at our local Peugeot Main Dealers earlier in the week.
When I collected the car I was asked if I'd mind completing a short customer satisfaction survey which would be sent to me.
I said you can send it but I don't bother filling them in.
Anyway survey received and ignored.
This morning I receive a phone call asking why I haven't filled in the survey and telling me how helpful it would be if I  gave them a good score.
The chap seemed a bit miffed when I said if I fill it in it'll be aa 2/10 so shall I proceed?
Why so low he enquired.
Because I said on collection of the car that I wouldn't be filling the survey in and now you are inconveniencing me by phoning me and asking me to give you a good score.
Too many businesses now want praise for doing their jobs. Ridiculous.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Reminds me of these rail passenger surveys when they release the figures and get ridiculously high scores for "staff availablity" on routes with DOO trains and unstaffed stations, or for "comfort of the seats" when there are entire commuter groups and even the newspapers attacking the DFT directly for the poor standard of modern train seating...

Something never quite adds up.

I 'like' the delivery company reviews. After giving a star rating you are then presented with a box in which you can type away. I put something along the lines of the underpaid guy who according the companies track my delivery feature started his round at seven o'clock in the morning arrived at my door at half six in the evening (according to your web site) which I saw the following morning and upon opening my front door there it was. Well, they did ask

For what it's worth, I had to replace the oven, hob and fridge freezer in our house last month.

Oven and hob were installed by Currys. Were advised the day before when they would arrive. Spot on. None of this sucking in of breath, just did the job without any complaints. 5/5 on trust pilot.

Fridge Freezer was installed by AO. Were advised 5 minutes before the 4 hour time slot they were supposed to be coming. Even then, they were 45 minutes late. They said they were not taking back the frost free freezer because it had not been defrosted (eh? When they wouldn't tell us when it was due to be collected so we could plan?), and to cap it all took lots of photos to prove they had not damaged the fridge freezer installing it (like we were criminals about to kick in the side of the fridge and get a discount?) 1/5 on trust pilot.

In all fairness this reflects solely on the fitters and not the retailers, but the retailers will take the credit if they get 5/5.

I've had a number of reviews, positive ones, rejected by Trustpilot as false. This is after being asked by the retailer to review them. So now I just put in the title, "Trust Pilot isn't trust worthy" and put in the text why. They sometimes publish it, but I often get a reply saying it is false.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

I one I hate is eBay. For every transaction you make you are asked to rate it, but you don't seem to be able to give anything other than positive feedback. Is it me, am I missing something, or can you not report poor service on there?

I totally agree ..... If someone has to ask for a good review they really don't deserve one

However I have recently emailed two companies who have gone above and beyond ( one the company who have recently built and installed my new bedroom furniture, and the other a model rail company)

Neither company even hinted at wanting good reports, they just did an excellent job  :D  :D

All best wishes

Haven't got any to leave at present but ISTR they've changed the feedback system to only allow negative or neutral scores after 14(?) days to allow time for any issue to be resolved, or at least attempted.

I do find their feedback acknowledgement page rather negative in its latest iteration - it offers small text links for things like "Where do you want to go next?" and a dirty great button "Did something go wrong, can we help?", giving me the implication that they expect things to go wrong more often than not.
